The world so doesn’t revolve around Singapore…it seems we’re always playing catch-up to the other “bigger” countries. That’s why we haven’t slowed down at all, in fact the govt is finding more ways to “improve” than ever before. While we are definitely surrounded by Singaporeans and one million foreign workers/expats, what influence us is a whole other story. If you ask American youths, who their role models are, they will pick an American president/politician. In Singapore, the majority of youths will mention someone not local.

queen's english is simply british english with correct sentence structure.

and GP is graded heavily on critical ideas,not your standard of english.

example:

my promo paper this year

language mark: 18/25
Content: 12/25

total: 30

a friend whose written english is not as strong as me got:

language mark: 15/25
Content: 20/25(i think)

total: 35

Please. GP is not a good indicator of english standards. people who can think critically may not have the best english standards. by the way, are you studying in Australia because you cmi in Singapore and are so angry with the system you lash out at anything and everything unique(idiotic in your opinion) in Singapore?

In the 60's when the British wanted to withdraw its armed forces from the East, newly independent Singapore was left in a lurch.
Hurriedly, with Isreali know-how national service was introduced and the Singapore Armed Forces was formed.
Then suddenly, the British legacy, in TV programmes, stamps, red pill boxes, money, disappeared. As if in disgust. There was a perceptible "cleansing" of British influences (denied of course).
Then American TV programmes and culture came flooding in. And its been that way since.

This may sound correct, but it is wrong.
"This has got to be...". "Has got to be", so is it or is it not? It is in the past, remember? It should be clear, because something is being evaluated.
"..Stupidest.." Fast, faster, fastest yes, but for stupid, it should be more stupid, and most stupid.

Better: This is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

Notice the inclusion of the word "ever" to emphasize the quality "most stupid".

Any educated person will tell you otherwise.
She says it is the most stupid thing she ever heard, and then she continues and says, "Any educated person will tell you otherwise".
Why would she contradict herself?
You see how important it is to express yourself clearly.
What she is trying to say is that:
Any educated person will not agree to the to comments (that she is talking about).

Better: Any educated person will agree with me.

This is a positive statement to her comment.

x2. use simple english with good points and solid elaboration, it is still possible to score good marks for GP.

but using very good english with bad points almost always warrants a fail.
