My teachers didn't enjoy a pay raise back when I was young, and I still got a decent education.

I guess the money is meant for anger management classes - Last time, parents used to side with the teachers, so the kids go home and get a double-whammy. Nowadays, the parents stand with the children, so the teachers are alone. Coupled with performance targets from principals, it's no wonder the turnover rate is high.

Think the pay is simply to get more people to try out the job.

How do you grade 2 teachers, one from a top school which routinely produces top students, while the other is from another lesser known school which routinely produces "barely able to pass" ah lians like me? Laughing

Teachers can only guide. Students from top schools are juz more self motivated to study cus they see the 'light' earlier than the others.

i juz feel that the quality of the teachers may be compromised in the sense new teachers are attracted by the $$$, and not driven by the passion to educate the younger generations.
