I know the gun is innocent but it provides a means of killing people. The gun's sole purpose is to kill and banning it will certainly reduce the number of deaths each year. If this was the only time something like this happened then okay I can understand not blaming guns but this kind of thing happens so much in America.

Here are more reasons why many Americans are against gun control.

Politically, there has been talks on tighter gun control by the Democrats and the Republicans. America is now in the midst of a presidential race. Neither party wants to endorse tighter gun control as both are aware that it can cost them votes.

Historically, the Americans forefathers fought and died for freedom. Now that they are enjoying freedom, they are not going to give up the right to bear arms; theres a tendency that tyranny can creep up on them. Tyranny is natural and is all around the globe. It has happened in SINGAPORE and its happening in Russia.

Statistically, the homicide rate has fallen over the last 12 years. Easy access to guns result in deaths more common in drug deals and gang fights. The world is a better place because these people are gone. In the decade since England banned all private possession of handguns, the BBC reported that the number of gun crimes has actually gone up sharply because criminals, who dont obey the law, have the upper hand. In America, guns play an important role in self-defense. More than 100,000 cases of self-defense occur every year.
In lax gun control America, nongun homicide rates are 3 times higher than Englands non-gun homicide rates. This statistics indicate that murder rates dont fall because they cant use guns.

He made his own selfish choice to take other people's lives to be "famous".

If he had any gumption, he would have taken his own life or seek help instead of killing the people who had nothing to do with him.

So I give no consideration to his sob story. He is a heartless and selfish moron who went into a mall with the intention to take lives. End of story .

Nobody say that his taking of other people's lives in the mall is a correct thing to do.

But we're asking why would a person do such thing? How did society contribute to such incident? How did the government policy of allowing gun ownership allow such incident to occur?

We should not be pointing our fingers only at the shooter. We, as part of the society, has to pay responsibility too.

Look deeper. Many things go beyond the surface.

Bottom line, if the USA government will not decide to ban free guns, it is very unlikely to happen because of their culture and history. For us in singapore, it is easy to say ban guns and everything solved, but we are outsiders looking in and their situation is something we cannot comprehend properly.

Although u have to question which country in the world depends on it citizens to defend themselves with guns when the police cannot?

Perhaps a tighter legal system is the way to go, if their law is more like singapore law, the crime rates will be more like singapore also. Laughing They have good police but their law does not deter people from crimes enough, they have too kind probation systems.

Also they have to work more on youth who have sidtracked and give them avenues to get on with life, not easy to do but with so many troubled youth who do mass shooting, they should come up with ways to help them before disasters happen. In the end, all of them have common traits, lack of direction in life and lack of friends and love. So they need to look into what is the cause and how to fix it. A supportive family and good upbringing can also make the difference.

In the end, the gun accident is indicative of a social problem in USA, troubled youth, they can look into that before they consider guns control laws.

Its much easier to enforce a no-guns law in Singapore than in the US simply because of the difference in size.

I am not saying they should ban guns outright but tighter gun laws should be in placed.

If every criminal blames society for their so called predicament , then why do we even need jails?

Guns are weapons like knives . Even if he didn't have a gun , he would have used a knife .

The policies may be lax in USA but who is anyone to say anything unless they are americans.

Society creates social problems but actions when premeditated are the individual's choice .
