"and which jap model and make can
seriously be compared "within the field" fairly with another conti
model and make when standards in manufacturing, materials involved
and so on are already different? this is esp. so in the area of and
"within the field" of a commercial car widely
manufactured."
I would like to point out 1stly, that with the exception of Honda
and Toyota, all other Jap manufacturers are owned by European or
American car corporations, so certainly they can be compared within
the field fairly, often based alone on the fact that they use
european car chassis, such as the Mazda 3 and 6 using Ford
platforms. Futhermore, the case is made because standards within
manufacturing nowadays are fairly even across all major car
manufacturers(with the exception of some American domestic models
whose interior is still shit) Car manufacturers no longer produce
all their cars based on where their brand is located. Honda makes
cars in UK just as BMW makes cars in Thailand. The only variance
I'd expect in manufacturing quality should vary WITHIN a brand
depending on place of manufacture, but should not vary much across
manufacturers, upon fixing the location of manufacture. Materials
involved pretty much follows the same logic as manufacturing, so
there is certainly no valid reason for inferior materials to be
used on Jap cars. I do wonder if u aren't still thinking of Jap
cars with an 80s automotive scene mentality.
For years, the only distinguishing factor for jap cars and conti
cars, was the self-imposed bhp limit, which has now been discarded.
That, and taking into account the fact that europeans n americans
own most jap brands, i'll say again, that i see no reason or excuse
for them to be unable to be compared against conti makes.
For the 2 brands not
under control, Toyota and Honda, they're major enough that
they have no excuse for producing inferior cars either. The fact
is, jap cars of today are certainly more than fit to be compared
against their european counterparts. Its whether they're leaders of
the field or not, is another debatable matter altogether, one which
my view is that, they're not, not yet anyway. To be honest, in the
early 90s, for a time, I do think and feel they were. U just have
to look at the sort of crap europe was making in the early to mid
90s, like the Ford Scorpio, Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, VW Golf, Fiat
Punto... cars that weren't particularly attractive, or any good to
drive, or, in the case of the Golf GTi, weren't living up to its
reputation. But then came 2000, and suddenly the european
automotive scene seemed to have taken a huge jump, especially with
respect to design, both aesthetically and mechanically. So its
really credit to the Contis for having taken the lead again. Its a
harsh truth to fans of jap cars, but its the truth
nontheless.
ok then. but i'm still disputing the fact and truth that and i
quote u " for the 2 brands not under control, toyota and honda."
they're still essentially japanese in nature.
having the 80's mentality? u got to be kidding. would i even write
that in the first place. if u have taken this route of dispute,
then let me emphasize that -
1. can you compare a S2000, MRS2, Z350, RX8, WRX STi, IS250/300,
with an M3 (and typically all other M series or classes), Z classes
from the BMW, CLK, CLS, SLK, porsche variants, lotus, ferrari,
lambo and many more?
specs already different.
and with regards to honda, their engineers don't believe in super
charged cars. all honda makes are NA even for their S2000 and
integra's.
2. if its harsh truth, then so be it. jap car owners know that they
are only getting jap quality cars. it can never be compared with a
conti. try disputing that with any jap or conti owners and most
likely you get an answer of "what is there to compare?" etc.
as to leading the field, i believe u will have to clear it with
n0x. only he/she can reply to you on what leading the field
means.
then again, civic 8th gen is already a notch up from its
predecessor, if not notches up. go read from both ends of the
world's car reviews and you'll find out...gd n bad of this car.
