alleggerita SG My uncle bought the Volvo cheaper..$114,200..haha.. And of course the Volvo's FC more than Civic la!! Civic 1.8-litres nia and is tuned more for fuel efficiency while the Volvo has a 2.4-litre engine tuned more for power..170bhp in fact..lol..and yes, very bad FC..my uncle says he can only manage 7km/l on average..but actually 7km/l is not bad for a 2.4-litre liao..
Darkness_hacker99 SG Just now I forget to bring the a/c number.. Then I call home and woke up my mum..
alleggerita SG Like you said..10bhp lesser leh..so obviously can see Honda's 2.4-litre engine is tuned for fuel efficiency..lol.. But I simply love my uncle's S40, warts and all..it's so powerful comapred to most cars on SG roads..just squeeze throttle a bit can easily surge ahead of everyone..
alleggerita SG BMW is different..they are engine-crazy people..they can tune engine for both power and fuel efficiency..they si bei pro..
alleggerita SG Oh, I thought you go study liao..so you secretly looking at our posts and never talk..si darkie..
toyota-corolla SG Don't bullsh!t lah! Volvo is not the fastest here. Let's don't compare with Japan car. Let's compare with BMW. A BMW 3 Series Coupe 335i Highline (A) cost $238,800 with COE, can easily hit 10.5km/l. 3.0l and its bhp is much higher, 306bhp. Volvo can go and die lah. Low horsepower, higer FC. Crappy car lah.
Darkness_hacker99 SG Go X-fer $ Study till morning borrow $ from mother Go buy Harry potter series 7. come back sleep I just came back nia.. Need to catch a breath..
alleggerita SG I never say Volvo is fastest on SG roads..I'm saying it's ONE OF THE FASTER ONES on sg roads..easily win the common cars like Corollas, Civics, Lancers, CR-Vs, blah blah blah.. 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds already hot hatch standards.. Of course I admit BMW much better than Volvo, but can a BMW compete with a Volvo for "value for money"? NO WAY!!! And BMW can never match Volvo's dedication to safety..if BMW is power-crazed, Volvo is safety-crazed..
toyota-corolla SG If that's the case, why don't you include Proton Waja? value for money? Ha! You can easily, get a japanese car (recommend Honda and Toyota) with 5 stars rating, hence why bother spending another $30k on a Volvo, that also have to be scrap in 10 years time? You might as well take that $30k to spend on road tax. Moreover, market price stated that a Volvo 2.4 cost $119,000. Why don't get a Toyota Camry 2.4l with 167bhp. A difference 3bhp, how much does it matter?
alleggerita SG Well, Volvo ain't for typical Singaporeans that care for their money more than they care for their kids.. Those aimming to spend as little as possible on private transport will get reliable and cheap jap saloons like Toyota or Honda.. But for people who wants to stand out more from the crowd will opt for other brands, and preferrably continental.. My uncle is financially stable enough to own a Volvo and afford it's fuel bill, so why not? And it's just as reliable as a jap saloon..no probs so far..but CHOI.. And regarding the Camry issue..yeah, it only 3bhp behind and hence not much difference..but the difference lies in the kerbweight! Haha..the Camry is much heavier than the S40, so most of the extra bhp is used to counterreact the extra weight..so it ends up not much faster than a Honda Civic 1.8 for example..
toyota-corolla SG Seriously lah, Volvo under power lah. It's top speed, can't outwin a Honda Civic Type R. Too under power lah.
alleggerita SG Volvo not sports car la..compare with Civic Type-R for what? The S40 2.4i's pace is comparable to maybe a BMW 523i, SLIGHTLY faster than the 523i I guess..
