and why do u need ns to be 2 years??or 2.5 years??doesnt justify
it if u are not from israel or south korea and those who are
currently still in a state of war and batlles are very real.
reducing ns doesnt mean abolish it!!!!the $$$$ saved on
conscripts can be channeled for better military
purposes in acquisition of better coventional weapons that u folks
at company level would be wiped out completely.
its rather u folks have never seen battles and are contented
with an average automatic rifle.
if u went into real battles,u wished that the ones in charge had
bought better bullet proof vest or better uav with a minigun
attached to it.
because we love our country, and we dont want our country to
become another israel or south korea, constantly in a state of
never ending war.
and so we build a formidable armed forces, we sacrificed our
best 2 years and much much more during our reservist years.
all in the hope that we will continue to have peace or a swift
victory in war should our neighbours miscalculate our resolves to
defend our family and country.
we are not short on defence budget, our govt and people
are always ready to raise the defence budget if
necessary.
in fact, we already possess some of the best conventional
weapons in this region.
we devote a significant budget into defence technology research
and development.
we have a defence industry that is the envy of our
neighbours.
and we will not rest in our pursuit of security for our people,
and will continue to spare no effort to ensure peace to our
country.
but beside technology and weapons, the true strength of
singapore defence depends on the people of singapore, the will of
our people sits at the core of our defence system.
without NS, there is no core, there is no commitment, there is
no will.... to defend what is ours.
