from the picture in yr post, I think I might be right. Just imagine, the MX was lifted from the ground by the kerb, when the front wheel still in the air, the BMW came into contact. The front of the BMW was being push upward. As the BMW is moving, the angle of MX beging lifted further. While the MX still have forward momentum as the initial speed is high, it propell up to perform the flip and hence misses the roof of the BMW. How?? got the ppicture??

If it is the BMW driver who is speeding, the MX will be push and fall infront of the BMW and not propell and fly over the BMW and land on the van which is on the other lane and is behind the BMW. This is physics.

If forward force(BMW) larger than unward force(MX) the MX will be infront. If upward force larger(MX) than the forward force(BMW) the MX will head for the sky.

haha... TVRs are obviously not for the faint hearted and amateurs.... only bad guys drive it.. those like John Travolta.... It's really a cool car man, nvm the ugly curves it's actually feverishly beautiful... it will outrun any M3, M5, M6 or porsches. Best of all it has no ABS and Airbags... TVRs solution to the lack of safety feature is simply...."DON'T CRASH IT'. How cool is that? If you are able to drive a TVR well... it really puts you right up there with the big boys! Go blackpool!

Precisely if i knew that i was driving a car without ESP, i wld take extra precaution when travelling over metal-plated roads and by doin so, it means slowing down considerably such that u are still in control of the car in event of any sudden change in road condition. I believe if the driver was driving less than 50km/k and he braked to avoid the BMW, the car would not skid and flip to the other side of the road... When i was working at Paya Lebar Aribase during my NS, I drove on those metal plates everyday and I treaded on them carefully at no more than 50km/h and I have experienced idiotic drivers causing me to brake suddenly but I dun skid and flip and mind u I drive only a humble jap saloon car that has worse handling than a MX-5.. U may say bcos the MX-5 is a FR car so it loses control easily, in the first place if u cant handle such a car, pls make sure u drive such that u still can control your car, even if it means snailing your car on such unfavourable road conditions

I have personally driven at Paya Lebar EVERYDAY for the more than 1 yr since they started construction for the new e-way and it is damn possible to speed there except during peak hours on weekdays... On a sat evening, the road is clear enuf for some1 to speed there... although i'm not accusing that the driver is speeding, but it is damn possible to be able to speed

Well that i dunno... Philia claims that the metal plates + FR contributed to the accident, but if the guy was driving a esp-enabled mercs, the car wld not skid and flip... So probably a mercs isnt FR? Or maybe a mercs is FR but bcos wif esp, it will not skid n flip

there is no law stating that drivers below 28 cannot test-drive sports car... Its juz that some car agencies have this policy to allow only experienced drivers to do so... in other words, it is a company policy for certain car agencies, but not restricted by law so dun jump into conclusion

Many have said it: speeding kills. The test driver is a f-brain punk.

If you wreck a MX5 like that at 50kph as some claim in this forum, then the government should not be raising the speed limits on many roads.

We're just waiting for the day when another punk go above the speed limit on the expressway and kill someone. Justly, he should just kill him but more likely, he will take someone innocent down.

Well, I guess you pay twice the amount for a Merc. And I don't think in this case the MX's DSC has anything to do with it. There are so many Mazdas in Singapore, 2 SP, 3, 5, 6, 6MPS, as well as other MXs. You don't see them skidding and flipping. It's not the car; its the driver.

I"ve enough going through all these accusations here and there with baseless here say and theories........

Wan to know how to oversteer at 40km/h on a slippery surface? Go for D1 courses.....
I'm going to be very very crude here.
The Fu*king BMW 318 like mention here is a bloody 1700kg car which the weight even without anti skid wun caused the kind of over steer the MX5 with 1100kg will caused. DUn compare different cars. The way the front engine rear wheel drive car of the MX 5 weight distribution is different as it has a long nose and short butt. I cannot be bothered to explain more anyway.

2ndly u all keep claiming that without speed how the bmw got smashed so badly?
Let me ask u this, the impact of the mx 5 was at the side not the front. How you go speeding on the side with 4 wheels on the side acting as traction to caused such damage? One conclusion.... the on coming BMW is going above the speed litmit.

thirldly i've explianed on how the whole incident happened not wholely by me but by experts after looking at the damage of the car and surverers surveying the roads afther investigating statements from witnesses and drivers involved involved. How a car can spin and in the end using the broken drive shaft with the rim in a positive camber angle acting as a pivot point to bring the car over the divider are all phiysics and investigation reports by experts. Not me.

Lastly. Non of u guys are even anywhere near the accident of spoke to any of the witnesses or drivers or even at the scene yet hauling baseless accusations and theories.

Touch your own heart and Ask yourself this simple question. Have u ever driven recklessly or have near accident cases with a passenger inside? Or Riding with a pillion and self sidded with her along? Just that you were lucky no one got hurt. For this case is just unlucky someone get hurt. Before u point fingers search yourself first.
Finally all heresay are just plain Bullshit. There was no merc involve at all.. YEs there were 2 guys that went down to view the cars together but they both went down in one car. Not the mercedes. the other only ask how much can trade in the merc. never once did the merc appeared in this whole incident. See baseless accusation again.
