The waters here are too damn bloody noisy to ID any ship through sonar...the best are still thru periscope....that's why the American Carrier Group can't even able to locate us when we have exercise with them...now the Swedish Gotland Class Sub (which the USN lease to train their ASW tactics against conventional sub) are kicking the almight USN butt in their waters....lang de xu ming...

Hmm, i'm not surprised if passive detection doesn't work too well in shallow water operations. Perfect for diesels to sit quietly in the shallows, perhaps running at periscope depth with its ESM mast up. Perhaps an MAD run is the only way to find a diesel hiding in the shallows?

With so many sunken ships around our areas and the mordern subs have deguassing units to minimize their magnetic signature....MAD is like finding a needle in a haystack...that's y most warship would try to stay out of known submarine in that particular sectors....ASW is the most tedious task for surface ships...they would rather send out ASW air assest to hunt first before the surface fleet goes into that sector....

The top one looks like one of RSN's Mine hunters, the "Bedok' class or something.

the one below is a LST, note the distinctive bow,

I know the RMN as one similar to this shape that they bought 2nd hand from US. but so do many countries, like the RAN for eg also have at least one. I saw it anchored in a Navy pier.

The 2nd ship is definitely a FFG7 class frigate.... in this region, could be RAN or USN.

The first ship is an underway replenishment ship. Probably a fleet oiler (can see the blooms in the front where the hoses are (black)).

i would say these are USN ships.....
i don't think the RAN got such large replenishment vessels.

The profile dosen't fit the Perry-class frigate. Looks like the JMSDF Murasame/Takanami-class destroyers. (I was straining my eyes for the ship's no, seems like '105' to me....)

This I agree is replenishment ship, as IF the above ship (DD) is a JMSDF ship, I bet the latter ship ship is also belongs to JMSDF....perhaps the AOE Mashu-class? Ship no is '425'?

I believe the ships are JMSDF ships. This leads to the next question.....why are these JMSDF ships doing in this region? as it is rare for JMSDF ships to travel so far south here.... Going to the Gulf?

Was passing by Tanah Merah MRT station yesterday evening. The area was slightly jammed with an unusally large number of taxis parked along the road waiting for passengers (drivers where outside their cabs waiting). At the entrance of the station were 3 Hooters girls, in their trademark outfits. In the station itself, were a few caucasians - don't from which country though.

It seems that a number of sailors are expected here?

Tend to agree with Black Aces about the replenishment ship. It looks like a JMSDF Fast Combat Support Ship, AOE class. Here is a link to compare the silhouettes.
