Land Rover Defender

Hi guys... Very Happy Pls forgive me for my ignorance... I'm a big fan of SUVs (esp. Defender, Freelander, Jimny, Pajero and Landcrusier Prado) but I have little knowledge on both the adminstrative and technical aspect of getting a car... Some qns for land rover defender:

1) It's cost, FC, 4X4 capability, interior and exterior etc...

2) As far as I know, Defender runs on diesel, all Defenders I see running in SG are G-plates, I wonder would it be possible if I register it under private plate rather than company plate??

Could you guys share more information regarding those SUVs I've mentioned on top of Defender... just interested to know more...

I have seen petrol versions and trust me for a crusiing veh its no good…its so loud but off road nothing beats its capabilities….u have my word for this as I have been driving it for some time liao

haha... being loud is a typical aspect of all off road vehicles, I guess you'll have to sacrifice comfort if you are really into it... btw, Is the defender yours?? Any idea how much does it cost to own one?? Very Happy

hi..not sure if you know this..but since the Defender is diesel... if you register as private car instead of company car...your road tax is 700% the normal road tax..if I'm not wrong... So i guess that's one main reason why it is register as company G-plate.

Before I bought my car, I was seriously considering this too... my choice was the Ssangyong Musso Sports (pickup truck)... It seats 5 persons...the styling is from the Ssangyong Musso (which is an SUV) and it's got a HUGE boot (haha coz its a pickup truck)... but it's quite expensive though... but then again...it is DIESEL...so petrol won't burn your pocket...

But I'd like to know how much the Defender cost though...any bro out there driving the Defender?

actually, in singapore, a petrol version of the Freelander is more than enough. considering that there isn't much off-roading to be had in sg, u might be better off getting a 'soft' SUV, such as RAV-4, CR-V etc. Of course, if I had the cash, and I couldn't care less if my SUV is 'soft' or 'off-road' I'd either get the new Range Rover or the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, or the VW Touareg. Wouldn't mind a Merc M55 AMG or G55 AMG either. Mr. Green

well it is partially mine since I'm a taxpayer...maybe 0.001% of it.... Laughing SAF Vehicle ma...Despite its age really nothing beats its robustness...which is y i question SAF's Move to phase the defender 110 out and replace them with Ssyangyong rextons.... Confused I will laugh when those vehs get bogged down

SAF's move to replace the trusty Defenders with the Rextons makes me wonder if the Defender chassis is being phased out.

Even so, the Prado seems like a better buy.

exactly...or at least get the Discovery...but then again the Rexton is Cheap...Much cheaper than the Prado...but hey...SAF has a few Prados running around....even so they cannot matych the robustness of the Land rover....imagine using the Prado to cover safety during IPPT and those stores are in the veh and being dragged arnd...wad whould happen 2 the seats man...I see also heart ache...so far 2 me the only vehs tt come close to replacing the defender are the Pajero,Shogun or the Prado

do u know how many rovers SAF has??? count by the THOUSANDS...and that does not include those which are in Driclad....so if govt like u buy those porsches how much $$ liao...I'd rather use the taxpayers $$ elsewhere like giving troops better accomodation...

well tony's V6 ceased b4,next thing was a jammed exhaust so we had 2 drive w/o aircon if nt no power and the driveshaft needed balancing.... Confused oh did i mention that the door trims can be pulled off? Laughing
