I know that there is a distinction between these two appointments(WSO & Pilot), but i think the WSO is cross trained to take over the flying of the plane should anything happen to the pilot. This way they can save both the plane and their lives. So in a way, a WSO can be considered a pilot as well. Very Happy

A WSO is not a pilot. In the event of the pilot being incapacitated/ unable to fly, I'd think they might have the little basic skill to salvage/ land the plane. Other than that, they really just sit in the backseat of the jet and operate the weapon systems/ complement the crew in terms of mission requirements.

It will be nice to hear a feminine voice over the comms! Lets just say it will help with the morale and wake those soldiers who are half asleep!

Which is why female voices are used in recorded messages and female telemarketers, customer service operators are more common than males. Very Happy

Correct me if I am wrong, I tot WSO is the more senior crew of the a/c and both are pilots.

From the pix , the lady pilot seem to be younger one, and the guy seem to be older and perhaps the WSO.

well there are quite a few female RSAF pilots, and if i’m not wrong there’s one female F-16 pilot in the RSAF

Not necessary, you can mix a junior pilot with a senior wso or a senior pilot with a junior wso. Its all about crew matching.

Anyway, both the people in the pic are pilots.
