Each combined arms division should have one Armd Bde. How come only two Armd Bde (4th and 8th). Where is the third Armd Bde?

It does make sense to lump all the Leos into one single "unit"... maybe a strategic "counter-attack" force or the spearhead of a armoured thrust....

The "32nd Armd Div" is in the Book Defending the Lion City. There is no official news yet....

But with the recent annoucments:

56th Singapore Armor Brigade (9th division)

During Jan 92 - Sep 92, it took over units such as 415 SAR,426 SAR, 431 SAR and 432 SAR. On 29 Dec 1993, 56 SAB logo was officially inaugurated by BG Sin Boon Wah. Apr 96 saw the 1st oceania Ex-Wallaby been conducted at Shaolwater Bay in Australia. The stand down of 415 SAR on Apr 92 and 426 SAR on Sep 2000 saw the forming of 2 new units : 465 SAR on Mar 94 and 433 SAR on May 97.

54th Singapore Armour Brigade (6th division)

As the penetrating force in the battlefield, 54 SAB is deemed as the spearhead of the Division and was the first NS Armoured Brigade to be formed under the Combined Arms Division concept. The insignia highlights a triangle with an arrow cast by an armoured vehicle track. The triangle represents the head of a spear, reflecting the use of armour as a spearhead element in the battlefield. Featuring the SAF Armour colours of red and yellow, 54 SAB identifies herself closely with her origins, and is proud to have matured into a fighting fight unit.

based on my assumption... if every SAR has 12 tanks...

66 leopard tank can form 5 SAR with 6 tanks spare for training.

350 AMX-13 SM1 can form 27 SAR with 26 tanks spare for trainning and attrition losses.

with a total of 32 SAR, and each SAB with 4 SAR, i suspect that SAF has as many as 7 SAB.

other then the known 4th, 8th, 56th and 54th, there are at least another 3 SAB that is not known (add in some support elements.. and viola.. we got an armor divison).

another 22 AMX-10P could easily formed another 2 SAR under another unknown SAB, directly under the command of 21st division.

that should give SAF a grand total of 8 SAB, not including the 2 tempest SAB.

the above are my assumption.. i am not from armor.

1) Most likely 3 Bn +1 Rcbn to form 1 bde with maybe 4(tnks) reserve. Training numbers has to be up to Bn level for atec. Not common to have more than (12) for normal training purposes...usually have more than enough in case of VOR. Therefore only enough for 4 Bn.

2-3) We have 4 training Bns that means ~ 80 SM1s already taken...leaving 270. Take away condemned/destroyed/R&D numbers...maybe 180-240. Leaving just enough for 15-20 BNs... So at most 4-5+ Bde.

4) HmmmMaybe it's only one extra Bde.. Armour division maybe?? maybe not.

5) 22 AMX-10P + 22 AMX-10RC 44 vehicles just enough for 1 Bn. No mix with Ultra...cause different capabilities. Yeah might be RC bn for 21 div

6) same idea as the leopards...minus training+overseas+other stuff most likely enough for 1+ Bde.

Conclusion: Armour Div might still be in formation.

I am not surprised by "missing" numbers... i think SAF don't really have one number followed by another...

eg 3rd, 6th and 9th Division?? and then 21st Division followed by 25th Division!

and AIR forice ... at least a little bit of "system"

13X - Jet Trainers
14X - Combat A/c
15X - Trainers

16X - SADA

Is it the trend now to have the Black Panther on every unit belonging to the 9 Div?

I find it quite funny to have an infantry (cat) symbol on the logo of an essentially armoured unit even though this SAB will have its own mounted infantrymen.

The link provided by tripwire shows that 21 DIV have 2 SAR organic to it, but the total number of AMX10 series work out to only abt 70 vehicles,how to have 2 SAR? The webbie claimed SG have the RC version of AMX10. I dun remember seeing them before, anione see before?

LOL! I see all the "organizational" structure until blur liao.

With 66 Leo2s, definitely a large number of them will be kept for ops storage and a small quantity for training purposes. We don't want to wear them out before actually need to use them. Right?

Spares itself should not be problem becos the demand is there.

The reasons for spare tank 30 could be modified as :

1) Driver Training Tank (Fahrschulpanzer) Possible 1~2

2) The Bueffel Armored Recovery Vehicle Possible 8~10

3) Leguan Leopard 2 AVLB Possible 12~16
Bridge could same one on our VLB or the latest PSB2 bridge.

4) Leopard 2 AEV (Pionierpanzer 3 Kodiak). Possible 4~6

25 DIV according to Tim Huxley is more of a reserve division. He claims that there is a possible 32 DIV, of which 4 SAB is a part of.

BTW, is 46 SAR part of 4 SAB or 8 SAB? Also, since when has 4 SAB been based @ Kranji? Wasn't it from Sungai Gedung all along?

Wah lau.......you guys better watch out. Don't go too deep into the "real stuff".

66 Leo2 not enough to form one Division.
Notice that ours are combined arms division, so don't need so many tanks.

But in western world.....
Armoured Division means 200 MBTs, 100 IFVs.
Mech Inf Div means 100 MBTs, 200 IFVs.
