PLAB already allows commercial planes to land there. It's just that the planes landing there aren't used for passenger service. Commercial planes landing there usually cross the street to go for servicing at ST Aero.

If you went for the RSAF Open Hse, you would have saw FedEx planes at ST Aero side there... You would see it if you alighted from bus 90 and 94 during the Open Hse as in the makeshift temp bus stop for alighting Laughing

the 1st pic regarding the take-off route along runway 20 on heading 200 is to prevent possible conflict with Changi airport's civil aircraft traffic. If aircraft were to take off on heading 023, they will have to turn east and cross changi aerodrome and cutting through the approach and departure glidepaths of civil aircraft in changi before heading out to join the air routes.
military flights causes alot of problems for our civil aviation air traffic control...

Noise abatement wise, well... i don't see how taking off towards aljunied n kallang area can reduce noise disturbance to ppl living there. taking off on runway 20 @ PLAB, it would head off to minimal residential areas and thus, engine noise won't affect almost anyone...

The first picture actually shows the take off on runway 02... not 20.

Yup that's true. Their hangar is so huge, from my old flat balcony, you could see the tails stick high high, I once spotted JAL flight outside the hangar. If I use my bino, I can see the huge "NO SMOKING" sign plastered on the wall. Laughing

Pablo is right. If you really take a good look at the pic, you see a small arrow showing the take off on a heading of 023 before a left turn to hook down southwards to go out to sea....

do u know that southwards is 20 and not 02? 02 would be heading north. 20 would be heading south in the case of the picture.

2.from the map,i confirm take off towards NNE then make a 180 degree left turn to SSW and turn to SW to jurong Island direction and turn to SSW....

Ish PLAB able to handle A380 and other Airport issue like handle bags etc?

shouldnt be a problem. to handle A380 you can use the airport vechicle with those kinda stairs instead of aerobridges. baggage and etc shouldnt be a prob too. CAAS and SATS can always send ppl over if needed and dun forget PLAB was our international airport before changi operated. moreover even ulu ulu airports like those in rural parts of indonesia can also handle baggage.

Yes, it is an emergency measure to have PLAB as a back-up to Changi international airport. Therefore you can't expect it to be as good and so lots of improvisions need to be done.

Further more should there be an event serious enough to warrant the full/partial closure of Changi Airport then i don't think many people will be flying here in the 1st place. Very Happy
