This is my personal feeling.

To re-brand (change Singapore Girl image) cabin crew, SIA have to pump millions of dollars in advertising to familiarise the new , designing and buying new uniforms, etc etc.

Why do not SIA maintain existing Singapore Girl and just train them to be more service oriented for better passenger experience? If you do a reality check, at the end of day, passengers are more concerned about service they grt onboard than cabi crew's image.

If you discuss using marketing tactics...i think it's kinda silly to totally ditch an icon or image which e company has spent lots of time building it up over the past 20 years...To ppl, when they see the SG Girl, they will be reminded of SIA and Singapore, so in that, I think a revamp would most likely be the best choice for SIA Smile

Just a random thought. May not apply to everyone.

You know how people have perceptions of certain occupations, stereotypes etc... If you r a gal, and your bf is a pilot for example, your friends will go ... "pilot sia"... and if you are a guy... and your gf is an SIA girl... how will your friends react?

It is so true that the SG girl image has been deeply rooted into a part of Singapore. There is even a wax figure of a Singapore Girl in London's Madame-Tussauds muesum. You don't see any other airlines getting this kind of attention or should I say, being "honoured" this way. (just a personal opinion)

I still feel the Singapore Girl icon should stay. I mean, having flown on few airlines, our kebaya really stands out because we're the only airline not wearing biz suits! I love the design really, elegant and classic.

But then, I have to agree that maybe a little makeover can be good, like their makeup colours and hairdo maybe?? At least to give people a more modern feel haha Mr. Green

We keep thinking that they are bad in service.

But foreigners think that they are so well trained that they become robotic.
As time pass, old ideas have to mutate and change to keep up with current times.

Many airlines have been regarded as top or 5 stars due to the cabiun service that they have. Cathay, Singapore, Malaysia..
