Does it mention anything about its combat capability? Does it fire AA-12s now? =/ Kinda bo liao if they "zhng" into a twin rudder config just to carry out...

Eh... How can an aircraft with 2 engines be cheaper than an aircraft with 1 engine? The engine costs alone will make it more expensive, no?

Heh yea my mistake,i got the engines mixed up.
The YF-17 was using a new engine while the F-16 was using the F-15 engine.

the F-16 was around $250,000 cheaper to produce then the YF-17.The YF-17 had 6 mths before having to do their fly off while the YF-16 had 10months.The YF-16 was cheaper to maintain, had longer range and better manoeuvrability.But a really huge selling point was that it shared the same engine as the F-15 which was the aircraft the USAF really wanted and it was felt that it would help secure more F-15 sales.

That is likely, bcos Northrop built the original YF-17 and F-5. The F-18 was a modified YF-17 by Mcdonnell Douglas.

The F-16 used a 23 500Ib thrust engine while the new F-18 (then) used 2 17 900Ib. All these dug up from yr 1980.

Actually, it was a 60%-40%, Mcdonnell Douglas, northrop respectively when the naval hornets were sold. If the land based ones went thru, USAF or IRAN, it would have been, nothrop would recieve 60% and 40% to McDonnell Douglas. The percentage also represented how much of the hornet they built.
