fudgester SG The fella who asked me was a male. Middle-aged... he may or may have not done NS before. Anyway, it gets better. The conversation then went as follows: Me: 'We don't have the option of choosing which vocation we want to be in after BMT. So I decided that since I was going to be a medic either way, I might as well make the best out of things and do my tasks as well as I could. Eventually my efforts paid off, and my commanders decided to upgrade me to become a specialist.' Interviewer: 'Now you're making me even more confused. According to your application form, you were from an infantry unit. Yet, it also says that you're a medic. Now, you say that you're a commando as well. Can you clarify?' Me: (totally confused) 'I'm sorry... I don't remember mentioning anything about becoming a commando....' Interviewer: 'You said you were upgraded to become a specialist. Aren't all specialists commandos?' Me:

fudgester SG Well, the fella didn't seem to know that we don't have the option of choosing our vocations, and so I had to explain it to him. And I tried to twist his ignorance to my advantage by explaining that I made the best of my situation and got rewarded in the process through promotion. Unfortunately, it looks as though some interviewers are simply not intelligent enough for the twisting tactic to work on them. And no, I didn't get the blardy scholarship.
hisoka SG thats cause you tried to twist too hard he thought you liked the army too much meaning you were probably lacking in initiative and would want to go back
cyrusv SG "erm do you like the job?" these was what they asked? vain question have they ever thought why i even applied?

|Uv`-f|UtE-` SG I've a dip in IT but chose to enter a foreign bank as their service consultant in call center environment , the qns they ask includes: "what are your objectives in the banking line ?" which i thought was totally irrelevant because firstly i'm not exposed to banking and secondly the job scope is answering inbound calls from worldwide clients. and the qns of the day was "convince me that you can take up this challenging job which we are looking for highly determined individuals to join our bank" ... in my mind this answer appears "whether i'm a suitable candidate a not, its for u to observe during the course of work. If i promote myself to be suitable but yet i might not appear to be so then isnt it better to be frank ?" I don't like the idea of "selling" myself as a product ... extremely fake leh
jeramy SG once i went for interview for a 1-month temp job as a warehouse assistant, and the job scope is to carry and stack boxes of wines. i wasnt expecting a really serious sort or interview after all its only 1 month job and the job is sort of juz physical no-need-brain work. then the interviewer started to ask me to describe myself, and most importantly to state my strengths and weaknessees in areas of my character, personality, etc etc. i laughed out loud on the spot perhaps i should have told her i came in 2nd in world's strongest men competition.. and no, i din get the job
