As far as I'm concerned, they are convicts. Can't trust em. They
only get one chance in life, and they blew it. They can only blame
themselves. For their families, they be smart to stand up on their
on and have little to do with these convicted family members.
Everywhere you go, esp in govt service, the question is bound to
come out if any immediate family member has been convicted. Smart
convicts who do not want their kids to carry on their legacy will
foster them out. Sad but true. This not only affects the convict,
but the kids' lives afterwards. Again, they only have themselves to
blame. They can't blame society.
No one will ever completely trust a convict. If something goes
wrong, the immediate suspect or scapegoat will always be the
convict. That is a fact in society, not only in Singapore, but many
other parts of the world.
Personally, I would rather to have little to do with these convicts
as much as possible.
The 2nd prison is always there. It is almost impossible to break
out of it, unless you come from a rich and influential family. Such
as Ho Kwon Ping. All these convicted felons, what kind of jobs can
they get, even if they can get at all?
Tell me, if you are trying to get a cab at 1am, and you know the
cabby is an ex-con, will you feel secure? It is a fact of life.
Ex-cons just have to be prepared to get spit on repeatedly by
society.
Singaporeans at the end of the day are bigots. Just look at all the
old aunties and uncles and their old fashioned thinking, and the
young people following eagerly into their bigotted mindsets. We
chinese look down indians and malays and banglas. We call
caucasians ang mohs. It is inbuilt and ingrained into our systems.
What's more about convicts?
