Actually a medium tank with steel armour capable of modular armour add-ons armed with a 120mm smoothbore main gun would serve our needs well. It would have state of the art fire control and an autoloader meaning it is manned by 3 men and low-observability features.

500 units could be built to replace all the AMX-13SM1, AMX-10PAC-90 and Centurion Mk 13 tanks. Idea

yea get rid of the AMX, even with all the upgrades its shelf life has been stretched to the max. Store them up as reserves or something or use them as trainers.

I don't think they will even suffice as trainers... Probably the only fate that awaits them in a few years is dismantling and scrapping. Mr. Green

agree lah... when up against the FACs, PVs and FFs in the region, a 500 lb warhead is probably sufficient.

You hit a 500 ton FAC with a 500 o 2000 lbs warhead, it is equally dead

The RSAF should acquire 10 more AH-64D Apaches and 4 more CH-47SD Chinooks.

The RSAF requirement was for 30 attack helicopters and 20 heavylift helicopters. So far only 20 Apaches and 16 Chinooks are in service.

Yup first order in 1994 comprising 6 CH-47D models and delivery was in 1996.

6 advanced CH-47SD models were ordered in 1997 and an additional option of 4 was taken up. Delivery was in 1999-2000.

So 16 birds... The 6 early CH-47D have been upgraded to CH-47SD too.

1) Better SBOs,
2) requip the entire army with better rifles than the SAR21 (this includes the poor PDF NSMen)
3) better bayonets
4) more helicopters (UH60s anyone?)
5) better signal sets (lighter, waterproof and more secure)

we should take the AMX13 turrets, mount them on concrete montings... and then put them at key areas. like Changi naval base. sort of like coastal defenses. the manning requirements shouldn't be that harsh as the AMX13 is auto loading. just 2 man per turret. could be fully manned by reservists.
