It has more functions than this. Can even check if that IP address is famous for spamming. Just explore around that website.

All these tools, at their best, will show the ISP or the registrar. If you want it to trace directly right to where that bugger stays, pay for it.

People use these tools for tracing of spam mostly.

If it shows SMU, means that SMU probably owns a whole block of IP address. Residential IP addresses are owned by ISPs, so a tracing will only show that it belongs to Singapore or that ISP will show up.

Use the HOSTS file to block out websites you don't want your family to see, only you know it and you are the only one who can see it, no one else can! Mr. Green

The original intention of the HOSTS file is to block malicious sites including those pesky advertisers' websites.

You don't need any parental filtering/control program, just manually type in the addresses into the HOSTS file and voila!

"Why can't I access the website!?" Laughing

about the netstat thing…how can we clear all the foreign IPs so that it wont be confusing when i’m targetting at a specific IP?

MyPillowTalks SG

ask ndmxiaomayi…..or u can check alllllllllllllllllll of them to see which one’s server is not located in the queenstown exchange, means it is not in singapore. i tink most of the ISP’s server are in queenstown exchange

_n00b_ SG

i tried netstat -n with my fren…found his ip…but it appeared in the middle with a whole bunch of other IPs…anyway to target at the current ip that i’m sendin the file to?

I got a question to ask..

If let's say I receive 2 annoymous emails. Both IP address are the same, but only the last few digits are different(eg, 212.123.451.4 and 212.123.451.9), does it mean its send from the same location?

ndmmxiaomayi SG

This I don't do. I haven't learnt it yet. Once I learnt, maybe I will post, maybe I will not. I don't need to spoil computers...

If you more daring, can change Google's page to point to Yahoo!. I done that before, and it end up at Yahoo! page. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Not that I know of.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Most end up in Queenstown Exchange because these blocks of IP addresses belongs to Singnet, not Starhub nor Pacnet. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

It only tells that these 2 IP addresses belong to the same ISP. Location wise... unsure.
