how i wish my chinese is good enough to read Jin Yong novels.
But i watch all verison of Jin Yong martial art dramas and a lot of
times watch keep watching never bored can finish it in 2
days.
My fren who is a Jing Yong fan has read all of his 18 novels. Ang
several times. In fact Jin Yong novels is studied as a literature
subject with different rankings and stuff. Jin Yong works has be
ranked side by side with the 4 literature classics of ancient china
( Ci Yu Ji , Hong Long Mong, Shui Hu Zhuan , San Guo Yan Yi )
Interesting thing abt Jin Yong novels is , all the 1st word of his
novel add up to be a poem that make senses. His last work , Lu Ting
Ji , is a break though in martial art novels, cause rest of wu xia
xiao shuo all circles around a few points
1, main character is a martial art expert
2, there is some legendary weapon or secret manual that once u get
it u be invincible.
3, main character is super handsome or something super about him or
her.
so the main charater , wei xiao bao is none of the above and the
whole story is about ploting and planning, every strange thing done
in one part will definately linked to another part in later part of
story.
My fren also told me how Jin Yong came about to writing novels. JY
has a publisher fren who runs a newpaper printing press. Biz was
failing so he ask JY for help. So what JY did was write a few pages
each time and pass it to his fen to print in the papers. So Jy just
write a few pages each time and in time to come it became a whole
novel. In the end JY short stories help the news paper to be a
success and his fren ask JY to start writng novels
altogether.
The amazing part is , how can some one write such a detail story
with the whole plot not having any mistakes and compile it to a
novel few hundred pages , just by a few pages each day. No fancy
editing and stuff.
Futher more there are 3 books just commenting abt JY works and the
author has read JY novels over 100's times and do research on the
timeline and certain historical facts of JY works.
