ni kuang didnt like the character a zi in tian long ba bu. he made her blind and jin yong changed the story because of that.

seen the movie? try the "CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON" novel series by WANG DU LU.

the characters are psychologically more like real human beings. even the 'heroes' like LI MU BAI have psychological flaws. and some of them do die tragically. unlike JIN YONG or GU LONG their heroes are all invincible one...

its a series, so crouching tiger is the 4th out of 5 novels.

duo qing jian ke wu qing jian (xiao li fei dao) is not bad too. the rest are quite unbearable, especially those on fu hong xue.

Do you know his sister's novels are also very popular? Different genre though...she writes romance under the pen name Yi Shu...read most of her novel as well.

Seems most people have read either Gu Long or Jin Yong...there is also another quite good writer by the name of Liang Yi Shen...his novels tend to be much shorter but were quite good.

I read romance by Yi Shu and Qiong Yao but i didn't like Hong Lou Meng...Lin Dai Yu is not my cup of tea...can't stand such women. Jia Bao Yu is too sissy for me...

I have a recommendation though...read Ba Jin's Jia, Chun, Qiu (so-called Ji liu san bu qu)....really good. It was banned in Taiwan when I read it. The best way to promote a book is to ban it Mr. Green
