last time when our nation started, racial tension was the archilles heel of our country and we have seen in history what had happened when northen friends stirred the boiling pot. all these 40 yrs of nation building, if our gahmen fail to gel different races together, we really fail with all these National Education and National Service

Ha! With the way they slack over there in Malaysia government organizations (including army and police), I wouldn't worry about a thing if I was a Singaporean. I'm from Malaysia btw so I know first hand of the slacking attitude of the government workers.

ACtually i trust our Singaporean Malays quite a fair bit. I am glad to hear that from two malay guys here. Anyway in Singapore, althought racism still exists i am glad to say that it is kept to the bare minimum. Let us Singaporeans work together for the safety of our country and the region.

Actually I am all for true meritocracy in all aspects of the country most notably SAF. We must acknowledge the fact that racial discrimmination do exist in the SAF just like in all other levels of the country. However, it is very heartening to know that this exist at a very low level. In fact we have one of the best racially harmonious society in the world for racially diversified countries. I hope that SAF will give our Malay brothers more chances to go to certain units/formations. Maybe not immediately but speed up the process as it is already happening.

Ok, from all the posts above we can safely say that we can trust our Malay brothers to fight with us against other malays during war. They have no problem with race during a national crisis. However, what about religion? Will our muslim brothers have problems squeezing the trigger with a fellow muslim in the crosshair? If we can overcome these racial and religious differences and be united in Singapore, then we will be formidable! Unity is strength! Hope to hear views and comments from different races and religion. Very Happy

Hey, personally, I have no problems serving my country and killing my so called 'muslim brothers' in the process. Our forefathers built this nation from nothing, and if anyone threatens to cripple our country, I think ALL of us will have no problems in dealing with these aggressors, regardless of race or religion. Whoever messes with my country is messing with me even if u're a muslim. I'm confident the muslims in s'pore agrees with me. All my muslim friends agree with my opinion, and we have yet to serve national service!! Wink

Based on the ongoing incidents in South East Asia, I doubt we will really go to war with malaysia because of trivial matters like water or a small island called Pedro Branca; unless some random acts of madness occurs.

As a matter of fact, I hate to see our country fighting malaysia. I believe I am not the only singaporean who has relatives in Malaysia and vice versa. They need us as much as we need them. Without them, there would be no Singapore and without Singapore, I doubt the standard of living of JB is like what it is today.

I hate to see war happening between sg and m'sia... we have to work together since we are the ones who determine SEA's economy...But if the need to fight arises, I know many sg malays and chinese will understand. but who knows our greater enemy maybe not be our northern friend Laughing
