yes, but notice the difference ? .... all of singapore's
endeavours were undertaken by private individuals, there were no
goverment impetus involved ... (okay, other than an airport send
off perhaps, for the press) all these showy undertakings should not
be a goverment's job, NASA can claim lots of spin off benefits for
US companies and defence (velcro, better ICBMs .... etc ) but what
purpose does bringing up a malaysian astronaut do, other than
serving as a collective balls scratching exercise for the whole
nation ? ...
if you ask me, i think the malaysian people got taken for a ride by
their govement, this has certainly thrown off a lot of people off
more mundane issues like corruption and crony politics ....
(come to think of it, a ride in space isn't all that cranked up it
used to be huh, didn't some south african IT tycoon geek pay some
$25 million US for a ride up into space ? ... think of the irony
huh, if some singaporean coughs up that dough for a holiday in
space .... *perhaps Mr Sim Wong Hoo should take note .... (then
again, he probably has more important stuff to do, like beating
ipod sales ...
)
