I feel it is my duty to warn habitual speedsters that the
relevant authorities will not hesitate to come down hard on
motorists who insist on driving at excessive speeds. Such excessive
speeding even on an empty expressway is extremely dangerous because
the possibility of serious injury and death is extremely high in
the event of a crash. Studies have shown that speeding is the
number 1 cause of road fatalities in Singapore. In an emergency,
excessive speed is more likely to result in serious injury and
death not only to yourself but your passengers and other road
users. The possibility of serious injury is increased with every
increment in the vehicle’s speed. Even the most advanced safety
equipment found in modern vehicles will not safe you from an impact
at excessive speed. Motorists should refrain from excessive
speeding on public roads. Anyone caught speeding will be arrested
immediately and punished severely.
