Tiptronic is a type of semi-automatic transmission developed by Porsche, which allows the driver to bypass the automatic mode by moving the lever into a second shift gate or gear. This is the same as downshifting to increase the braking effect of the engine or for more performance (for manual transmission vehicles).

hm.. still dont quite understand.

anyway, yes, i dont rev normally. instead i choose to pick up speed gradually (or make use of slopes). normally drive 100+ on the expressway, which i spend most of my driving time on - i rarely drive in the city area. and in addition, due to my working habits and hours, i rarely need to drive when the sun is up, and that means i seldom need to hit the aircon. Wink i guess that's how i achieve my fc. when i first got my car, it was even better - 17+ constantly, sometimes venturing close to 18! but now, its more of 16+.

Well, I am sorry I don't know how to explain it any further. But think of it as if you are driving a manual transmissions car; when you are driving on expressway on 5th, you want to overtake a vehicle infront of you, so you'd shift one lever down (4th) for more power. This process is similar of to the Tiptronic.

I didn't know Honda City also got Tiptronic, which is nice to have.

Your FC is consider very good already, considering yours an auto ride. My FC is around there also; my best was 18+ but average at around 16+ when I rev a bit plus air-con. Of course, mine is a manual ride, stock.

Isn't Honda's control at the steering wheel? Usually you see it close beside the gear shift for auto cars, but I believe this City's is at the steering wheel. Or am I wrong?

Offing air-con can result in about 1-2km/h FC improvement, interested party might want to test it out!!!

I usually drive early to work and return during evening time. Usually when the sun isn't that torturing. So I just stick to the rule of FC, below 80km/h off air-con open window, above 80km/h close window on air-con. Actually I just open window when I am driving city, hit expressway then close window and on air-con.

Last pump FC 16.4km/L, after trying this, recent pump 19.1km/L. Wind blowing at 60km/h isn't really that bad.

anyway i havent heard of the below 80 off aircon and above 80 on air con guideline. it seems illogical, esp. since below 80 (or when one is driving slowly in general), there wont be much wind, so one tends to on aircon, while above 80, the wind would be quite strong so there wont be a need to on aircon.

Anyway, if you are interested about improving FC, then can try those things list in that webpages. But if you are just concern about your engine when you found that your FC is low, then I guess your friends have already confirmed that it is normal. Then just drive normal. Anyway, that is a great car in my opinion.

btw, i just tried the "aircon when travelling beyond 80 kmh" tip. sad to say it didnt work! my fc deteriorated instead. Neutral

Did you instead floor thinking it should be more FC wise now? That rule have to be use together with all the other 11 rule. Cannot be the case of when you off your aircon when running below 80km/h, you floor your accelerator once time you move off a stop. Then back to square 1 lah! Actually offing your aircon should give you a few extra HP too, maybe you too pedal-happy you forgotten to watch your foot.

.....OR......you actually have already off air-con all the way? So now you on air-con beyond 80kmh is actually increasing your air-con usage.

just did my 30k svc at KM…wow…my FC has improved a lot…now getting 680km and still have 6.5 litre in reserve…perhaps during the svc, they change all 8 spark plugs and did dignoistic on the ECU

It is very admiring to learn that thye FC is good,mine only gave about 13,but when i first collected the car,it gave 16,after that no more leow,sometimes it hit only 11.Talking abou driving habit,i have been tried to be light on the accerator,can always see those unpatient driver overtake me when moving from a traffic light,checked with Kah motor,nothings wrong.Boot is clear,tyres is 15”/195/55,got ground cable installed,so what happened!!! Can somebody enlighten.

Part of the reason why David can achieved more than you do is becos his City runs on 14" rims whereas yours is 15". Before I trade my 14" Stock Tyres with 15" Rims I was able to get 630km on average before my 30,000km servicing. After I changed the tyres at 30,000km the best I managed so far is 580km. ,ost of the time I'm getting only 520~550km Nowadays on 36L of petrol... That is quite a considerable difference...

very true…stock rim and everything stock will gives you good FC…so far only added cosmetic to my ride…bodykit…strut bar and there’s all…FC around 17 to 18 km per litre…

My city (2mth old) only can give 12km/L average. I think becos i seldom travel in highway. A quick check with your, now my city left front deck giving out some light vibrating sound, i can't figure out what went wrong but difinitely not from engine. Any have this problem before?

But before i got the 15",it aredi like that,some more i just done my 30k serving and guess what,it drop to half tank after about 250km of travel!!! got to top up and see what the FC.The best i got is 560km when i first got the car,now averagely about 520 to 540km.BTW what the full capacity of the fuel tank??

The full capacity of City is 42 litres. If you still experience poor FC, suggest you reset the ECU. just disconnect the battery terminal for more than 30 seconds..the ECU will start to learn your driving habit again...the key work is learn...so if you stomp and go at green light...good luck to you! the ECU will adjust to suit your jerking rabbit driving style...

For the front deck sound, did you install a strut bar? Vibration and sound are the toughest to arrest. When I first install the strut bar, I got this irritating vibration sound from the engine compartment when driving off. Tot the strut bar was loose but no it is not...finally found out the vibrating sound came from a wire housing touching the strut bar..push it aside and the sound was gone...

Nope, i didn't install any new thing in the engine.
Your idea of resetting the EUC is very challenging.
Maybe i will leave it to the Machanic to do during my next
10k servicing period. Wink
