No - MY took delivery of its F/A-18C Hornet in 1997.
Anyway , we should got all of our first batch of AIM 120 back in
SG.
AIM 120C -
Deal worth $85-100 m; for F-16 and possibly F-5S combat aircraft;
stored in USA until 2003 when delivered to Singapore after China
and Viet Nam introduced similar AA-12 missiles in
2002/2003
Yes, agree. We should have got all our AIM-120s back.
The agreement was NOT that we would receive the weapons when
"things got hot". Rather, it was that the missiles would remain
stored in the US until another country introduced similar ranged
missiles first. This point was to prevent an arms race.
Since, the AA-12 (also known as R-77) Adder has been introduced by
China & Vietnam, the agreement now allows us to claim our
missiles.
For those unfamiliar with missile terminology:
- the AIM-120 missile is called the AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range
Air to Air Missile)
- the AA-12 Adder is also commonly nicknamed the "AMRAAMski" as
many suspect it's a Russian copy and is similar in many
respects.
