21Alpha SG You can land anything on a ship, as long as you have a big enuf ship.. So, the question shld be is the flight deck of an Endurance-class large enough to accommodate a CH-47?
eurofighter SG According to AFM, the Ds have returned to US (for upgrading??). All we currently have here are SuperDs.
OldAhPek SG Sheese......... ge chiang you er maybe got spies here haha... if u guys reveal too much, later kanna charge and go DB lolz... then i'll sit here, la kopi and laugh at you you never know maybe some Intelligence guys are 'monitoring' our forum
Moxie SG I stand corrected: It was a Today journalist (Tor Ching Li) who said we have 10 Chinooks. The ST article of TCH's New Year message thanking SAF troops was the one which mentioned half of the fleet has been deployed. No, the 2 returning from Thailand didn't fly out to Sumatra, though both events took place on the same day. The Super Pumas can refuel on the RSS Endurance now that some of the 51 vehicles on board have been offloaded to the beach. The Chinooks will do the same when more deck space is cleared, according to news reports.
touchstone_2000 SG I was wondering about that and looked up FAS http://www.fas.org/asmp/profiles/notif_db.php?regionin=eapc&ctryin=sgp&descin=ch-47&date1in=1992&date2in=2004&typein=% Just precisely how many were in Singapore, I suppose is a secret. Yes the Chinook can land on the LST, provided the flight deck is completely cleared. The Super Puma can land on half of the flight deck. Shown on TV.
gary1910 SG That confirm what has been written in TH book, 10 CH-47SDs were ordered in the late 90s, prior to this , we have purchased 6 CH-47Ds in 94. Since we are upgrading the older one to SD version, that mean we will have 16 CH-47SDs.
Paladin SG U mean only our 47SDs do not have the capability to mid air refueling or RSAF didn't opt for it when purchasing the 47SDs?
eurofighter SG Jus take a look at the MH-47 and our CH-47SD. What physical difference do you see? Of course the refuelling probe! Only the SF versions of the chinook are fitted with the probe. Only a KC-130 is able to refuel these choppers. I believe the KC-135/KC-10 cant fly at that speed to refuel choppers.
LazerLordz SG The boom probes are found on the MH-47G.The equipment is very different.. CH-47SD Survival Systems APR-39A(V)1 Radar Signal Detecting Set AN/AVR-2 Laser Detecting Set AN/AAR-47 Missile Warning System AN/APR-44 Radar Warning System AN/ALQ-156A Missile Approach Warning System M-130 General purpose Despenser System MH-47G Armament and Survival Systems. Paladin SG I think it would be great for our 47SD to come with air refueling cabablity. Correct me if I'm wrong.. From the globalsecurity.org website it stated that 47D's range is 230 nm and the 47SD has a operational range which is double of 47D.. making it a max. range of 460nm which is about a 850km.. With the refueling cabability RSAF's 47SD's range can well easily extend beyond 1000km...! So who still say that RSN needs to get a LSD or LHD? I say we use the money to buy another 10 more 47SDs and still got spare cash for other purpose. In long run 10 47SDs is so much cheaper to maintain than a LSD or LHD...
