Looks like I'm heading to tekong BMTC Sch 1 for Enhanced BMT on January 7 2005.What is Enhanced MBT exactly?I thought that you only do that if you didn't take Napfa?Enhanced BMT means extended PTP right?

I'm at PES A,Silver for Napfa which I dd take.Is there some sort of cock-up?

Enhanced BMT is the commander’s BMT.You might be selected for SISPEC, OCS or any other Spec courses.

Actually enhanced BMT is just normal BMT. After PTP, the recruits all proceed for “enhanced” BMT. No big deal, it’s just a term of reference for direct intake to differentiate from the PTP people.

haha from what i heard about the ranger course,its pretty much STUPID to go for it unless u want to screw ur mind up...i dun really know the details but its pretty hard up on people..unless u have a super strong body and a mind that doesn't allow u to give up...

Actually if you're thinking of getting into these formations as a normal private, chances are very very low. You can however get posted to these units upon passing out from SISPEC or OCS. Ranger course is open to everyone, so I heard, as long as they pass the selection and their unit allows them to go for it.

Word of advice.
Don't.

Not unless you ace your BMT... then maybe you can consider.
Because it is widely recognised that the US Ranger Cse pushes a man to 75% of his capability.

Considering that most people think 25% is hard work....

NS can still be an adventure without going for the Ranger course. It all depends on luck of the draw and how siao your unit commander is (or how much balls he wants to carry by volunteering your unit for every available excercises) Twisted Evil

wrong... there's normal bmt and enhanced bmt. enhanced for command sch batch. while normal bmt is for 'man' batch.

Its been 5 years since I was a 2IC in BMTC2. Hope the below still applies.

Normal BMT... Its the standard package, you need to complete and pass the following, IPPT, SOC and IFC. I shall not go into details.

Enhanced BMT... you got extra training like SIT Test, and some other classroom instruction courses. The passing mark will still be the 3 essentials, IPPT, SOC and IFC.

SIT Test will be held as a field camp. Its to evaluate the soldier's leadership competency but most Instructors have a very dim view of how the Test properly stimulate a soldier's inherent ability to lead.

Most of the extra classroom instructions will be along the lines of indoctrination, videos and discussions to elicit soldier's responses, check their mentality.

I'm not current, so I hope there are some other forumers who can come forward and tell us more.

Congrats, Sardaukar, but don't get overly ambitious yet.

Ace your BMT first. Aim for the Best Trainee shortlist to get yourself to OCS or SISPEC, & then reevaluate your chances of getting to the elite formations from there. Those are the only 2 routes available, since you won't be joining them via the mono-intake BMT.

actually, the only way to get into the cdos - can't speak for guards - is to be enlisted via their mono-intakes. as an nsf from bmtc you cannot be posted to the commandos either straight after bmt, or even if you go to sispec or ocs first.

incidentally obersturmfuhrer and moxie, why do you guys say this is possible? any evidence, anecdotal or otherwise? its just that as far as i know this hasn't happened before.

so really, right now the only way you can get into the commandos is to sign on and pass ATCOR (selection test for cdo regular-wannabes) and subsequently clear cdo trg.

as for ranger course - how about you try serving some time in the army first? no offence but maybe you're still a little fuzzy on what you'd be getting yourself into. lots of people are all gungho and all before they enlist, but after a week or two of the saf all that enthusiasm fizzles right out. get a taste of things first.

ORD'd a long time ago; my understanding was built from the days when they were all under 7 SIB: 1st GDS/SAFGU, 2nd GDS/8 SIR, 1st CDO, 10th CDO, School of Commando Training, & later 3rd GDS/7 SIR.

Correction, I never said "its possible", I merely stated that chances are very low as I am not 100% certain of this fact. There are also no known directives that forbid the posting of BMT recruits to Cdo vocation. However, posting to Cdo after commissioning as an officer is something that I'm certain is possible.

well as far as i know yep, mono-intake is the only way. or at least as far as i've seen. like obersturmfuhrer says there may not be any specific directive saying so but just the same i've never heard of it happening.

i'm assuming we're talking about posting to CDO as a CDO OFFR, not DyS4 or some other non-combat vocation. and as an NSF.
