The shop is in the new walkway linking tower one and two. The walkway is jus outside courts, on the 3rd floor. Anyway, not really worth going there. The shop is really small and not as much variety as the one at Tiong Bahru.

actually i wanted to get an airbrush... but i'm afraid of the steep learning curve of using it... looks difficult to me! and also heard some people complain about 'bad' airbrushes...

and i also dunno how to choose airbrush... whats single action and double action?? hmmm Embarassed

I think you should really invest in a compressor and airbrush if you are really into this hobby.An airbrush can do wonders from painting,shading and dust staining etc.All this techniques are very crucial if you want a realistic model.
Single action airbrush are for general spraying work.Press the trigger and the paint sprays whereas for double action airbrush you can control the amount of paint flow.This is very important if your model require camouflaging.
I don't know about other modellers but i love my Tamiya compressor and airbrush.Served me well for many years and still going strong. Very Happy

is there a special kind of adhesive that you ppl use to build these models ? or is it just plain contact glue ? how much does an airbrush cost ? where can i find an airbrush ?

I guess most of us use liquid cement (tamiya extra thin type highly recomended at least for mi) for the building of these model. Airbrush costs around $100 to 200+ depends on wat u are getting. For fine and detail airbrushing i would recommend tamiya and gunze brand one (2 to 3mm).

a compressor alone cost about a 100 bucks? how about getting those 'cans' to inject pressure into the brush?

maybe i'll get an airbrush in a month or so..

THe cans are unable to gave a constant pressure n in the long term a compressor are able to gave a more value and saving if u are taking this hobby seriously

I suggest maybe you get the Tamiya spray-work air brush system set.It consist of a compressor and a double action trigger-type airbrush.Retail price is about SGD$199. Very Happy

Airbrush and a compressor is a good investment if you ready dig into this hobby. However, for my figure I still used brush and Oil paint for the face of the figure. For Armour, I will use the airbrush from doing the base code to weathering. For a bit more advantegous, use pastel chalks for the weathering - could provide an interesting effect.

Try any hobby shops that carry Tamiya products.They should have it in stock.Tamiya Item code is 74501.But be warn this compressor dosen't come with adaptor.you'll have to get one yourself(modified adaptor about $30).

i read that it is impt to wear a face mask when airbrushing...
haha my SARS N95 masks left over from last yr might do the trick.

so is it really necessary to wear the mask?

Yes i'm currently using 2 types of compressor,both from Tamiya.One of them is the one i recommended to you while the other is the Hg air compressor which cost $299(comes without air-brush).Air brushes are relatively easy to use and clean,after a few practises you should be use to it.
Tamiya compressors comes without adaptor,they want you to get the battery pack and charger which personally i think is a waste of money(charge for 1 day and battery use up within 30mins).The adaptor is the difficult part.It is not available in hobby shops( you can try asking them).I'm using a Newstar NA-3000 adaptor with re-modified wires.

so basically you can only paint for 30 mins each day? then back to recharging? Whats the difference between the original adapter and modified one? beside being cheaper...can it last longer?

Most modelers plastic cement for gluing parts together. I mostly use normal Tamiya cement as I find the bond of the super-thin stuff not strong enough.

However, I personally also use superglue for some applications, as well as White Glue to attach weapons on my planes as I can remove them later when I want to switch weapons.
