Trumpeter's two new releases of the CR2 (Op Telic and Kosovo) were sold at $14.90 during the moving out sale.

Sadly, I got both versions with a mere 28% discount days before the sale. Crying or Very sad

I'm waiting for Trumpeter to release the Panther - not the WW2 German medium tank but the US Army armoured engineer vehicle. Am also eyeing the SA-2 and the SA-2 transporter but the truck n' trailer kit is quite ex.

MH gave a 38% per cent sale last year during National Day. Hope they repeat it this year. If not, there's always the Great S'pore Sale.

Prodigy: I've done an Academy 1/48 scale T-33 in 131 Sqn colours, tail number 363. Have also done one in silver + day glo orange. This one will be 364 just like the one at the RSAF museum.

what did you guys use to stimulate mud?

i use tissue paper...add some glue in it... and paint it earth colour...gotta put little by little tissue..else it will CLOG up alot and is isnt realistic.. cheap way, cheaper than using putty!

Prodigy, Gunze does a line of acrylic weathering colours, amongst them is one called "Mud". It has texture to it, and when drybrushed onto your model looks quite good.

On my workbench? Theres

- 1/72 Italeri C-47 Dakota/Skytrain to be done as a USAAF D-Day aircraft
- 1/72 Revell F-16CJ Fighting Falcon to be done as an RSAF 143 Sqn aircraft
- 1/72 Mini-Hobby F-5E to be done as a silver RSAF 149 Sqn F-5E target tug from the '80s
- 1/72 Academy P-47D Thunderbolt to be done as a RAF aircraft in India

Heres a pic of a 1/48 Academy RSAF T-33 I've done, my skills are nowhere near dusterbuster's. The real thing is on display at Hobby Focus in Far East Plaza.

I dun think the one at Tiong Bahru Plaza has changed. The boss(Albert) is still the same jus that he is seldom around nowadays and the store is usually tended by other people. In fact I jus saw him a few days back.

can anyone tell me what are the “tools” that are needed to build these models ? , and how much do they cost ? . i’ve tried to build an F-4 but it turned out to be a piece of junk . if anyone can give tips for a newbie like me on modelling , you are very very welcomed to do that . i really want to learn this art . thanks

There's a model shop in Selegie (basement) that conducts model building classes for $30. Airbrush and paints provided. Not sure of the shopping centre's name but it's the one next to Paradiz centre, Mac's and billard saloons in the basement.

Kiloclass, Miniature Hobby at #03-105 (from 1st May) Marina Square also conducts classes. Not sure of the pricing, but I like the atmosphere and the way I've seen the classes being conducted there.

The trick is patience, and realising that everyone builds crap the first time round too!

Hobby Focus is at Far East Plaza, shop # 02-51, above Burger King. Its facing the Scotts Road Bus Stop

The one at Orchard Plaza is Hobby Icon, shop #03-72. Take the escalator to the 3rd Flr, you can see the shop to your left as you go up the escalator.

I use a Badger 200 single action airbrush and a diaphragm compressor to paint, took the step up years ago and never looked back since. Paint-wise, my favourites are (by preference)

- Gunze lacquers
- Gunze acrylics
- Tamiya acrylics

Suntec's branch is at 3rd floor, near the arcade... and very close to a shop dealing in health product ( cycling wheels, etc ) i think its osim, but i'm not sure.. the shop is infront of a big space where there is a children's playground there...

cant remember the exact shop address..sorry..anyway, the counter boy there knows nuts and isnt all too helpful, infact NONE too helpful at all... Rolling Eyes
