When you do model the SM1, do try to do some battle-damage to
replicate the resultant effects of enraged enemy infantry fire
against the vehicle/turret frontal in bid to knock out the optics,
e.g. periscopes and gunner's sight.
Some feedbacks from Sri Lankan army that whenever their vehicles
were contacted by LTTE, e.g BMPs, all the fittings were found
blown/shorn off by the heavy MG fire to the front. Which is why BMP
driver periscopes had a raised ballistic slope ahead in the glacis
to lessen such effects - ricochet against the plating instead of
directly knocking the driver blind. They always want to go in with
as much ammo as they could in such engagements - protection was not
their main concern. All they wished was to empty their guns on
enemy area before going in. Proves how fearful the LTTE was.
