Question on AMX13 (for scale modelling)

last SG · 2004-05-08T08:24:54+00:00

Before you have that, SAF will have to allow Tamiya or equivalent to come into armour camp to take photos...you think that will happen ?

ditzy SG

Oh one more thing, camo net.

ditzy SG

No need SAF camp, just go STK's or CIS manufacturing plant can liao.

panzerjager SG

No go, still need to get clearance from MSD. Besides, SM1 is no longer in production/retrofit programme. BIONIX has completed delivery. Probably the only SM1 specimen that is cleared without entering armour camp is the old AMX13 (not even SM1 config) standing for "Once Armour Always Armour" outside armour complex.

There is no cleared BIONIX sample for anyone to see anytime.

May be they can try the SAF open days and snap all they want. That's what I would do if I'm in Sinagpore. Is the Armour coffee table book any good?

golani_bde SG

One more question. Is the rack and box highlighted also found on the left of the turret?

ditzy SG

Yes, they exist. That is the actual rack where the camo net is placed for speedy deployment and recovery. The box is misc placement of slightly fragile items such as an NVG box or binoculars since it is slightly padded Its smaller than the container used for holding 7.62 rounds. So far, I've only used that box to hold items such as cylume sticks and erm campbell can soup. Laughing

Of course those samples at houses will be cleaned out for public to see. You will not see what they dun want u to see. That's why there is for example no cleared sample BIONIX for any public to see until now, e,g, the wartime version of the armour. You will never see it until something really bad happens

golani_bde SG

True enough. Well, at least some shots of the cleaned out version should provide enough info to build a scale model. Thanks for all the help so far. Will post my completed model here for comments in future. However that might be 1/2 a year down the road. I am also working on a M1A1, S-tank and BMP2 in parallel. Future projects will be a M113 Ultra with Rafael OWS and a KIFV K263 (with vulcan cannon)
