Hi mr sbs6750E, I did say I like AJQZC's proposed route. Will be beneficial to most. However, I am practical too. I know the possibility of it happening is close to zero. Haha people get into arguments with me is okay as long as they are talking about bus routes and have substantial facts to back up. This is what forums are all about. If people do not have even the basic freedom to say what they want, then that defeats the purpose of debating in forums. Everything just be 'yes man'. Cheers. Thanks.

If given the choice, residents will be more inclined to choose less winding alternatives. In particular for those who travel to and from Sengkang West. Do you know many people who'd rather take the MRT from Yishun to Tampines than service 39/969? Of course, you could say there's not enough demand right now to warrant such a service, and a long one it is. I'm just musing about possible potential that such a service may have, some tine between Punggol's maturation and the opening of the Cross Island MRT Line, in the near future. Options generate demand too. Don't get too tense. Cheers.

Hi mr AJQZC, I understand. There are many alternatives to get from 1 place to another. Just as sengkang has sbs 156 from northeast to west, Punggol also deserves a bus service from northeast to either west or northwest. Cheers. Thanks.

Hi mr AJQZC, such long distance bus routes are no longer favoured. There is always the MRT. Northeast-downtown line straight can reach bukit panjang. Cheers. Thanks.

Long distance express routes are of high importance when it could ply a route that reaches the destination with a less winding route.

And I dont think a journey to BPJ, from the NE, requires me to go all the way down to Little India, and all the way back up again.

MRT will also need supplementary routes to clear its crushing demand. NEL was running overcapacity until recently when C751C trains helped relieved this. It will not last long though with all the developments going on in the NE, and the govt's aim at reducing car usage.

Please be truthful in your statement when you make the assumption "no longer favoured". Who said so? Have you really asked the commuters on the ground? Or merely your self-centered opinion? If they are "no longer favoured", why are there still so many pax taking 168, 965, to name a few?

I agree with your 192/258 suggestions, 258 still maintains its Pioneer - Street 81 connection while reducing duplication, 258 along Upper Jurong Road is like a duplicate of 192 (while it helps to relieve 192's load at Jurong Camp, 192 is operating at a really good frequency during peak hours, hence, I support ammending 258 to ply 256's route to Pioneer)

Don't think so. How would it impact? One service can manage the loading at Jurong Camp. Previously 182 was doing it quite okay. There wasn't even a connection to Pioneer or Joo Koon MRT then. Plus there will still be sv 99.

46 and 68 served by different operators and 68 doesnt even serve Bedok area..46 can extend to loop further into Tampines estates rather than the interchange itself.

Benefits

1. Service 40's new length will be 19km versus 23 km previously. This will enable it to be be operated at higher frequencies with its current fleet of just 7 buses.

2. New connection between East Coast Rd (I12 Katong area) and Paya Lebar MRT. Right now, the only MRT connection is at Dakota Stn via services 10 & 32.

3. New connection between Eunos & Koon Seng Road. Current EWL connection is at Kembangan MRT via service 33 at Joo Chiat Place which doesn't make sense.

4. New connection betwen Koon Seng Road/Dunman Road and amenities in Paya Lebar and Geylang Road.

Loss connection from East Coast Rd to Geylang Rd/Aljunied Rd/Merpati Road.

1. Merpati Rd/Aljunied Rd: Easily replicated by transfering to service 135 at Mountbatten Rd/Tanjong Katong Rd or by transfering to an assortment of services at Mcpherson Estate.

2. Geylang Rd: Transfer to service 152 at Tanjong Katong Rd or 197/134 and walk from Guilemard or Geylang East Central respectively.
