They can already do away with 128. Loading has been low for quite some time now. 128 cannot compete NSL.

I actually think 128 would be a huge hit if i) it gets amended to inner parts of AMK/Bishan, and ii) it gets more publicity.

The reason why 128 has dropped demand coz it only operates during peak hours, and this also cause the popularity of the service to drop as not many ppl will know it exist, even residents there. It could be made to full day service, with like 15min freq, which can effectively compliment the NSL. Being peak service is not enuf

no need to make 128 full day... you can see the demand of most bus service during off peak from 9am to 4pm...and at night time, do not need to see more empty buses running around..

first thing, they have cut the run time.. it took almost 1 hr 15 mins to travel from shenton way to AMK..... they should have make it express after somerset mrt (turn to paragon and onto CTE)... now 128 travel along newton/thomson road... and got stuck even though there is bus lane...

502's route is something that none of the western residents or commuters will ever go to the north east. That is the reason why they cut it. First, most of the route may duplicate 501. Second, to provide connectivity to MBS and Suntec.

501 is upgraded to Transcity Bus Services bus service 550 and City Direct service 654.

85: withdrawn. About 5 SDs and 20 DDs gone.

Maybe you should explain why you want to extend svc 64, and what the benefits are... (e.g. to provide connectivity between Mei Chin and Queenstown MRT, between Mei Chin and Kent Ridge MRT, etc)

Alternative suggestions:
- Extend svc 63 from Rumah Tinggi to Kent Ridge (via Jln Bukit Merah) to improve connectivity in Rumah Tinggi & Redhill
- Merge svc 63 or 64 with svc 191, to provide better connectivity to Mediapolis and Portsdown

LOL... I remember that my blood was boiling with anger when I saw the massive rationalisation of bus services parallel to the NEL back in 2003. At that time, I was a poor student who only bought bus concession, so I avoided the MRT and took buses only. I depended heavily on svc 23 to travel from Bedok North Rd to Bendemeer Rd so that I can transfer to other buses to downtown and western SG. After the NEL rationalisation, I lost 7 options along Bendemeer Rd / Jalan Besar. The sense of injustice was overwhelming. It seemed that the government had totally forgotten about commuters with bus-only concession pass. (I heard that LTA wanted to cut svc 133 & 147 too, but luckily 133 & 147 were spared due to intervention by grassroot leaders.)

Thankfully there are no rationalisations (so far) after CCL & DTL started operations. But then, the good times won't last, as KBW said "Bus services may be re-routed, merged or rationalised to optimise resources." Let's wait and see which routes will "kena the axe".

They should look at all route overall and modify routes that do not have enough loading and get them to connect new areas. Important to have more point-to-point connections and reduce long route duplications.

Take Marine Parade as an example. There is an exodus of services running in parallel between Marine Parade and Bedok.

16, 31, 155, 196, 197. Are so many needed? No. 197 already is too long, should have been truncated to say Eunos or go to Bedok via Still road, Kembangan, Chai Chee to Bedok, this way at least you connect Kembangan and Chai Chee to Katong and Parkway Parade (no connection today).

Likewise UEC has too many duplicative sectors.

197 is the result of merger with the old 41.

Anyway, some of the NEL cuts were harsh. PGL is the only suburb with no bus service to CBD as a result. I hope 62 can be extended to Marina South ITH when it opens.
