Well this issue throws the focus on whether LTA is more
interested in ensuring regular headways between buses or collecting
bus fares?
I spectulate that such practice might have been included in Go
Ahead Singapore's contract with LTA, i.e. GAS has permission from
LTA to do such a thing, in order to ensure regular headways. Such
practices were examples of what the new foreign operators wanted to
introduce to Singapore anyway so I think LTA would have given their
approval for such practices by GAS before awarding them the bus
contract?
(That being said, if LTA is really insistent on accurate bus
fare collection they would have to modify their fare policy to
allow transfers between buses on the same bus service using the
same Ez-link card. Will this happen someday?)
Hi mr orange28, accepted cheapest tender and allowed others to
trim down their own keepings? Is our regulatory body so naive to
let foreign companies trample on us? Super unlikely.
Allow same service transfer without paying money? Sure or not?
How they know that the guy is really transferring or running an
errand halfway and boarding the bus again? They know they cannot
control so they specially list out this term in today item of
transferring with maximum 5 trips. Cheers. Thanks.
