same la.. i'm not asking can eat what.. im asking about can eat the 2 sides if u discard the same card in the same round. in ur case, if i throw 9, can i eat back 6 or 9 to win in the same round? Laughing

ya hor...ooops....anyway...after throwing the 8 bamboo in his instance, he cannot win on 8 bamboo if another player throws b4 he draws his next tile....bt he will b able to win on the 5 bamboo if anybody throws b4 he draws the next tile...

the basic rule of ping hu is you must always wait for at least 2 different tiles at one time.

chee more is the only exception.

so you can only hu 5 or 8 on or after your next draw.

confirm can eat 5 bt not 8 cos u r still waiting for 2 tiles...just dat u cannot win on 8 cos just throw....first time u heard mayb cos its 1st time u encounter such situation Smile

My personal view is dragg definition of ping hu rules seem logical. That is unless self rub, you must wait for 2 tiles then can win.

So going by threadstarter example, since 8 cannot be used to win since it is discarded by him earlier, waiting on a 5 alone in the same round cannot be constituted as a win. It must be in the next round waiting for 2 tiles then can win.

However to tell the truth, my frens last time play is can. Hahahhaa.... no one cry father cry mother.... i.e we allow 5 to game in that same round but not 8. Now thinking back, dragg argument seem more valid. So last time steal chicken success lor hehehehe.... Mr. Green

every mahjong player must have encountered this situation countless of times.

if you throw 8 and hu 5 thats char wu because ping hu have to "listen" to 2 different tiles at one time. otherwise it is considered as ka loong. ka loong is not accepted in ping hu.

What i will do is eat 4 5 6 then throw 3... Then u got 7,8,9,9 wait for 6 and 9...

Or if u wanna eat 3 4 5, then i will throw 9... Then u got 6,7,8,9 wait for 6 and 9

Above is same as threadstarter problem. You throw a 9, can you game in the same round with a 6 ? It is same problem with number switched only. Do you get the threadstarter question? Mr. Green

as long as it is agreeable among the players at the table it is ok.

make sure you 'qiang' (hokkien) if playing with someone outside your circle.

some people play with different rules.

please....most majong players wld not get themselves into tis situation....instead most pple wld like wat kenneth87 says eat 4 with 5 & 6 den throw 3 n wait fr 6 n 9 lo....or wld not hv eat the 4 but wait 4 chee more or best is to hope n wait 4 favorable tiles 2 come in n change...onli some will eat the 4 n den think how Smile

oh in this case, at least for this round, u cant hu with a 9 since u jus throw a 9... Must wait until it come back to ur turn then u can win with 6 or 9...
