when i applied for the POSB GO! card last week, the bank executive there says the GO! card cannot make online purchase, i was like Shocked Rolling Eyes

yeah, u can't use it online.

in fact, u can't use it at places without MC POS terminals. supplying just the credit card number and expiry date but without a signature, the transaction will be declined.

it is just an enhanced ATM card.

Just like Visa Electron by UOB or other local banks. A debit card with no minimum income required can be used only for local purchases at the point of sales.

If you want to make online payment, you should look for smart debit card that requires minimum income of SGD18,000.00 p.a. like I previously listed for local banks.

I'm able to use my TX Debit Card for online payments such as movie tickets and online shopping.

I am using a POSB Master Debit card, it is mastercard with only debit facilities, but I am able to do online shopping, like buying things off the net, but cinema tickets.

Basically it is a mastercard without credit facilities that's all. Hope this input helps. Very Happy

credit card is in a sense safer than debit card. cs if ur debit card is missing, the stealer can sign off n straight away n ur money gone instantly whereelse credit card u can report missing n no need to pay.

Wrong perception, indeed. You better don't lose your credit card if you carry on thinking this way.

In the event of losing your debit card, you have lesser liability incurred compared to credit card because you can end up paying more depending on the charges incurred prior to notification of loss card.

This subject to the card issuer's terms and conditions as a cardholder. If you fail to report the loss, you are liable for any charges occurred prior to your reporting because of your failure to report. Can even make you a bankrupt on extreme cases.

Debit card is definitely better and safer.

POSB master debit got annual fee unless you make 18 or more transaction with that card, then fee waivered.

POSB GO! is free.

i've been using online with posb mastercard like nobody's business. go malaysia shop also using POS to sign mastercard. buy movie ticket in singapore. buy air ticket in malaysia.

i really want to make online purchases from some US sites.

is there any service here whereby u put some money in a bank, and they give you a debit card that has the same amount of $ you deposited?
(like if i give $500 to the bank, they gimme a debit card with $500 in it and then i can use this card to make purchases online; if the debit card's value is empty, then i top it up......something like cashcard, but can be used online)

debit cards with requirements of SGD$18000 p.a. is a bit high leh.
