actually i wanted to be a officer.. in terms of a pilot when i was a kid.. but den circumstances forced me to switch to an army officer instead... cos im a specky.. Crying or Very sad

anyway.. as a kid.. im always interested in anything military.. from reading up on military hardware, books on warfare.. i always read the 'pioneer' that my uncle brings back.. haa.. Wink so i guess thats the main factor and driving point for me to be an officer.. my first taste of leadership is when i was a pc in ncc.. it was a great experience.. to be able to make right decisions and ur men respecting u for it... even tho its onli ncc.. haha Rolling Eyes

juz went checkup yesterday... was pes A .. yay.. Wink

pes a? i think ur myopia shudnt be very bad rite? it is still possible to try to apply to become a pilot. u mus rem tt alot of ppl in singapore r speckys, so theres the chance. if u get shortlisted, they will sponsor ur lasik surgery.

in any case, ever tot of signing on den? Wink

speckies can be pilots too... just that your chance of being a fighter pilot would be slimmer...

kY|e-_-o SG

oh.. for ur info.. im around 700 degrees.. so.. its impossible for me to be a pilot.. Shocked

kY|e-_-o SG

hee.. i try not to have any high expectations and to juz do my best..
and yes.. i do plan to be a regular if i get into ocs.. Wink

wuming78 SG

hm! and u can stil get pes a for tt? interesting...

wuming78 SG

u can always apply to sign on as a army officer b4 u get enlisted.

kY|e-_-o SG

can enlighten me on that? hee.. thanks~ Surprised

wuming78 SG

means u can go and apply to be a regular b4 u enlist. o cos they will shortlist and interview u. they will also look at ur results and all.

if u sign on as an army officer den as long as u perform pretty ok u will go to ocs after bmt.

in fact, there r diff stages when u can sign on - b4 enlistment, during bmt, or even after bmt, though tt might be abit late unless as u said, u successfully get to ocs urself.

but first o cos u mus be sure u noe the job and like the job and the env. its not ez u noe? Wink

kY|e-_-o SG

hee..thats why i plan to sign on during bmt itself.. wanna get a feel of army life first.. Wink

WuMing, you forgot to tell the boys about the OCS logo.

It shows a sword and a torch of fire.

It actually means "Sa Ren Fang Huo" (kill and torch houses)

this guy in my batch was a signed up, but was too weak physically and mentally. he suffered hell when all of us and the instructors tried to pull him through. after months of hell, he quitted, t'was a sad sight.

hi.. ive got another question here... Confused

if i were to sign on as an combat officer.. what will my working time like?.. do i have to stay in all week and book out only on wkends?
is it any difference from engineering/logistics officer?

wuming78 SG

whether u stay out or stay in depends alot on ur unit's policy as well as ur work.

e.g. during ur pc tour, it will likely be stay in, whereas if u r on ur staff or even instructional tour, if there is nothing urgent u can stay out. however even during oc tour u may need to stay in cos of trg requirements, etc.

rule of thumb - first tour (usu pc tour) usu means staying in. after tt, it depends.

logistics - deals wif logistics. u noe, food, tpt, medical, ammo, etc.

engineering - there r diff kinds, such as field engineer, bridging engineer, pioneer (who receives engineering trg), demo, etc.

kY|e-_-o SG

actually i mean whether logistics and engineering officers have to stay in too? since their work is not so much like a combat officer..
