The eurofighter may sport all the top of the line avionics -
cool but it doesn't fly. if it is so wonderful how come the british
no confidence to use it in this war theatre in iraq hmm?
Your opnions on the eurofighter may hold water bt my reservation is
that I wouldn't want to depend on an aircraft that "maybe" works if
ever there was a conflict in this region.
The reason why the Brits are not using the typhoon in the gulf
right now is simply because they have yet to enter
service!!!!
The first plane should be delivered by now (or within the next
couple of months), but nevertheless, the IOC (Initial Operational
Capability) should be only around 2005/6.
As for ATG capability, can someone tell me why the rafale is much
more superior than the Typhoon? AFAIK, those in service now with
the French forces are more towards ATA, with secondary roles in
ATG. Yes, they will get more ATG capability gradually, but isn't
this the same with the Typhoon. If we buy the Typhoon, we will most
likely get ours in 2007/8, which will likely be Tranche 2, Tranche
3 if we wait a wee bit longer or if we take up the options as well.
By then, the typhoon will be just as capable in the ATG if not
better. Comments???
