Recently i have been applying for the senior tech position i have pass the interview .But i fail for the medical i get into Pes B.

Pes B is still not fit to get into senior tech?

PES B is like nvm at all =.=" the most critical of all nontheless is still ippt.

for pilots, if they fail due to aeromedical reasons, still got chance to revocate? [to WSO, AEO all that]

Hello.

I have a question and hope some can help me answer.

I was unsucessful on the first attempt on passing the COMPASS test.

Is there a chance i can have another opportunity to apply again and sit for the COMPASS test?

Yep. The compass test is valid for either 2 or 2.5 yrs (cant really rmb) so after that amt of time has elapsed u can reapply. I suppose u are a student? Cos if u are serving ns now, then u no chance of signing on during ur service.

hi all. i am a student doing my A'level this year.i have a strong passion in signing on to be a pilot and serving the nation.yes,i do know about the commitment and hardwork while training to be pilot,and being a pilot is not all just about glory.however,it is still my ambition to be a pilot and fly.

i have some very important questions and issues that'll need advice from the experienced people here.please help me out.thanks.

these are information about me. my status was PES A l1 then it got 'demoted' to PES B L1( due to my blood,g6pd). height 181. NAFTA: gold consistently. eyesight: 350 for both eyes (means i cannot qualify for FTR pilot,but i'm aiming for rotary/transport pilot). basically, after reading the basic requirements, i think i can qualify for a pilot in terms of physical aspects.

however,these are my problems thats troubling me deeply now.after going for the medical checkup, i was invited to take the COMPASS test. after taking it,i still do not have any replies from them( been a month or so already). however,my friend who went also, called RSAF up. he was told that if we did not receive a letter of rejection, means we have passed stage 1,so we have to wait for the interview to be arranged.

here's problem no.1- is it true that i passed COMPASS test?

no.2) after passing the interview and medical checkup. i know that i have to go through normal BMT and then OCS. however,i just got my letter of enlistment, it states that i am enlisted to SCDF but no SAF,hence i do not have the chance to go BMT.does this mean that i have no chance to be a pilot or serve RSAF anymore?

please share your views on this.it will really be appreciated.i am very concerned about my future now and do not know what to do.

If u do sign on like what a pilot is required to do, you will be transferred to SAF

hmm..i quite confused with your reply.does this mean that if i pass my COMPASS test and thereafter my interview and checkup. then i make known my intentions of signing on with the airforce(to be a pilot),then they will automatically transfer me over?

im afraid it might be too late.my enlistment date is 4 may.if i were to be transferred over to SAF,will my enlistment date change?

I am unsure about the compass test thing since i dun belong to airforce so i'll leave it to the others to answer.

If you pass all your tests etc and are eligible to sign on as pilot, they will transfer u over to SAF when u sign on since a SAF regular cannot be serving in the SCDF

4 may is still over 6 months away so should not be too late. Enlistment date will obviously change since SCDF and SAF have different enlistment dates.

AOS, otherwise known as Air Operations Specialists, are the specialist equivalents of controllers (who are exclusive officers). They assist the officers in handling the day-to-day controlling and functioning in the squadrons.

For the route of AOS, I will address the NSFs ones first. For an NSF AOS, you will undergo a few weeks of training at AFTC after your BMT. After you finish your course, you will be posted either to a flying squadron as an ops assistant (help to file flight plans, do admin work etc etc), to a flying support squadron (FSS) as an ops assistant (flying support squadrons are basically the squadrons which do the controlling operations at the 4 air bases. the BCP, base command posts, are the nerve centres of each base and they are under the supervision of the individual FSSs) and of cos back to AFTC as a simulator operator (or more affectionately known as pseudo-pilots for those there). I am not too sure if they post NSF AOS to 203 sqn but H sqn is definitely for regulars only. You will graduate as a PTE after your Basic AOS course but you should get your 3SG at least 6 months before you ORD after attending the Intermediate AOS/AOSS course (compared to 3 months before ORD under the prior system).

For regular AOSS (Air Operations System Specialists), they will be posted to one of the 4 FSS, 203 sqn or H sqn. Before they start their AOSS training, they will be promoted to CPL and to 3SG after completion of their AOSS training.

NSF AOS do get posed to 203 squadrons. Now the promotion criterias has been changed, promotion to 3SG is 9 months before ORD. And fighter squadron Ops assistants has the most busy and stressful lives among all. This i can assure you. And btw, im from the 82nd batch of AOS ording in 5 days time..LOL

As for working hours, Squadron Ops Assistant is most of the time a mon-fri basis except on the occasional exercises on weekends, working hours is not fixed, but its not overnight either, you just work during the flying durations. As for BCP and 203 squadron, you're on Shift duties which means weekend and public holidays are counted, and for FSS the tower specialists, its also mostly mon-fri occasional weekend duties and hours not fixed. Actually the only fixed working hours are those simulator pilots in AFS or FSC, purely mon-fri and 830 to 530 i believe +/- 1 hour.

Why wld fighter squadron ops asst has the most busy and stressful lives? For all bases? or onli some? I tot the most stressful wld be the ATC guys.. haha

Im not sure how to explain it to you, but i can tell you, its definitely difficult in a fighter squadron due to the number of sorties they fly each day and the amount of pilots.. Transport squadrons have it slightly easier, cause there're specialists there to help them too.. And no, im not in FSS, im in a fighter squadron and thats why i can tell you this. If you want a good experience by all means, but its a hard job. On the positive note though, fighter squadrons tend to go for many detachments like thailand and australia and the chances of you going is very high since there're only 2 of you.

Simulator pilots gain nothing useful out of their tour in my opinion. But the life is relax and good. Squadron lifes, you get to meet many high ranking personnel, in my tour of duty, i've met people like chief, dy chief, cmd adoc etc all of whom are generals.. I dont think you'll get that luxury elsewhere.

Nah, if you're working in the flying squadrons, you just support their flying schedules thats all.. Not really shifts, but sometimes i go to work as early as 6am, sometimes 1pm etc.. It depends on the flying schedule.. And dont be too concerned bout rank, because in the RSAF which is a regular dominated area, 3SG is as good as private in the army, you're still the smallest no matter where you go, so just take the money and accept whatever sai gang is throw to you.

Hi guys . i am currently gonna take my A levels. few weeks back i took my compass test but failed. but i really wanna go into airforce are there any other aviation related vocations that dont require compass test ?or is there any way to retake?

Furthermore, i am going for a short stint with syfc this december, will it help in increasing my chances of going rsaf?

hi all again. i have just learnt that i have passed my COMPASS test and pending for my interview. i was told that i will be transferred from SCDF to normal BMT once i pass my interview and medical checkup.

however, after doing some 'research' on the course to becoming a pilot. i have some questions that need some advice on.

let me pen down the following 'schedue'.pls correct me if i'm wrong.thanks

airgrading course in aust: 2mths

common leadership module: 2 weeks

air force service term: 2 mths

jungle orientation training, brunei: 2 weeks

ground sch in aviation wing, air force sh: 3 mths

basic flying phase in pearce,aust: 6-9 mths

advanced flying phase: 11 months

however, before commencing on these phases, i must go through regular BMT and pass OCS before i start the airgrding couse right?or is there things that i may have missed out?furthermore, among all this stages, which stage will be the most crucial or the stage which is most difficult?lastly, must i do very well in order to apply for LSA in local uni?or that as long as i book a place in a local uni,i'm eligible for LSA?
