sounds like i want to fly before i can even learn to walk! so scary, like the 3-point-turn. i think best to avoid such parking lot and master the normal park...

your method is very much like what the school teaches. doesn't work for me. so i'm now adopting the 45-degree angle as many have suggested.

ok, ok, point noted. how come u are very good at parking car? you always on a lookout for some damsels in despair and then offer yr help issit? Laughing but seriously, i really need some kind soul to guide me in parking. i understand the written methods some of you posted here but when i actually put them to use, wah piang, so difficult, always forget which direction to steer like last nite, it took me 30 minutes to straighten my car in my house basement carpark. luckily no other cars around otherwise damn paiseh. My Army days, we have to squeeze so much big vehicles into a buildings which mean all of them are park side by side 7 inch gap only. You cannot even open the door and have to climb out from the roof. Totally no room for mistake, if not a vehicle or building wall will be serious damage due to the huge size of each vehicle. Usually we learn alot from the experience drivers on handling, at time we are also given a lot of new drivers which we need to train to do it.

Your problem is you didn't get to learn to look and trust your mirrors, therefore you are lost in your car position in relation to the lot and other cars.

Next you did not understand the turn of your steering have effect on your front wheels and thus car movement, so in a way you cannot get your car to move the way you need it.

If you master the using your mirror to judge your position. Master how to get control your steering to get it do what is needed. That all you need.

Just offer help to another fellow human being, does not care if you lady or guy.

i guess u are rite about my understanding of steering the wheel. in fact, i only just learnt to trust the mirrors last nite. i just sat in the car trying to figure out whether my wheels are steered to the left or right. still can't get that feeling so had to get out of the car numerous times to check if the tyres are straight or otherwise. at the end of 30 minutes, i finally got the feeling if the car is slanted or not. i realised the trick is to move the car slowly and observe the steering wheel. however, i still dun hv the confidence nor knowledge when to reverse the car into the lot. i still can't position the car properly outside the desired lot to reverse in but hey, thanks for yr tips. hope to consult you again.

wah lau, u are like a bird, flitting from one post to another hor. if i wan to learn fm school. i sure go to SSDC, near my home mah. when i passed my tp in jan, i wanted to immediately sign up for auto-driving but the school can only give me earliest date is in april! wah piang, wait so long, by then, i will be driving like siao oredi so i went to buy my altis and learn by myself lor becos the private instructor suck lah....ie, suck my money lor. but luckily got this forum coz i got very good tips from fellow members here.

true... those driving centers teach us to park with poles, after pass liao go out into the real world, it becomes totally different... really have to learn to trust the mirror. My mom forced me to park our Merc into an empty lot at our home a lot of times until I got the hang of it. Laughing

i don't think being a lady causes one to have problems in parking. remember, my mom is the one who drives the big merc around. she's a mean parker too. and she DID force me to park till i could get it.

err it jus so happens that the fear of hitting the 2 cars will actually build into ur sub-concious n improve ur parkin. When u r afraid to hit th 2 cars from the side, u tend to check ur side mirrors more (side mirror v impt in parkin) and be more careful, so being more careful, u will jus slot ur car in Smile . parkin takes lotsa of practices.
