Laughing Nice try. Its never-ending. We always like to complain abt singaporeans, but how often do we take a step back and look at the issue carefully?? Different pple have different upbringing. To tat lady, prob she was brought up to think tat it is a must to wash fruits b4 eating. To others like us, prob not.

HEY GUYS! I HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD.

If this incident takes place at hawker centres or food courts, it is right to demean this comment made by this fellow Singaporean. However, this incident is taking place in a HOSPITAL!!!

Obviously, you guyz are apparantly SO in the pink that you all don't ever get to sleep or stay in a hospital. Well, I once did. And if this case was to happen to me and if I ever happen to see it, I'll definitely voice up in the ST Forum as well. Calling me a complaining patient? By all means, go ahead.

But let me tell you all, that it's no fun being a patient in a hospital. My life was once at stake, and if ever I consume anything unhygenic, or bacteria infected, causing me any harm, that vendor is going to be solely responsible for everything.

In conclusion, I am agreeing with this forum writer and her comments, although many of you think it's just another complain. But I think that something must be done regarding hygiene in hospital premises.

Are there safety rules for children's fun rides at pasar malam?

I'm writing to share my nightmarish experience at a recent pasar malam at Serangoon North Avenue 1 two weeks ago.

I brought my three-year-old son to the children's rides section and was surprised to discover that many of the rides were manned by disinterested-looking teenagers wearing earphones.

Some were smoking whilst the ride was being operated. In one instance, an operator was overseeing two rides at the same time when an unsupervised child dashed onto the electrified tracks of the 'Steam Train' but fortunately, he was grabbed in the nick of time by his alarmed father.

Upon enquiring further with the manager on duty, he told me that it was the company's policy for one person to manage two rides. I also observed that many of the rides did not have approved seatbelts.

This raises a few questions. Are the operators trained? Are they allowed to smoke and listen to loud music whilst operating the rides? They won't be able to hear any call for help if anything untoward happens.

Is it safe for one person to operate two different rides at the same time? Is the equipment safe for our children to play on?

COMIC BOOK NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS

WHEN my son brought home a comic book, Powers, The Sellouts, from Bukit Merah Library, I was shocked to find an offensive four-letter word on many pages.

There were also some drawings of naked women.

Furthermore, in between pages, there were advertisements providing website addresses on sex-related subjects. How did the book get into the public library in the first place?

They might as well banned the Literature textbook "I'm the King of the Castle" from being used in school since the four-letter word is also found in one of the chapters. They might as well banned Literature text written by Shakespeare since they contain so many sexual innuendoes.

It is always so easy to make complaint rather than be the one fixing the problem rite? Open mouth or use pen write complaint is so much more easier. That is how idle and lazy sporeans had become.

Complain here, complain there. Not happy with situation ownself go and fix the problem lah. Not happy than dun patronise lor. Why should the whole world be acting perfect in the eyes of a complaint king/queen? Mr. Green

The monsoon season is upon us again and footpaths used by pedestrians crossing the road at Punggol Field become muddied, raising the risk of contracting a disease caused by soil-borne bacteria.

Although the incidence of such a disease is low in Singapore, the fear of one contracting it cannot be dismissed as a friend who got infected by the bacteria Pseudomonas pseudomallei passed away a few days after his admission to hospital despite getting strong antibiotics.

Besides getting one's shoes, sandals and feet wet and dirty, pedestrians may also be exposed to othersoil-borne diseases which can be very serious and even fatal.

My friend who passed away had contracted Melioidosis - a soil-borne tropical disease.

The same foot-paths below the three LRT stations along Punggol Field could be laid with mortar.

The granite chips which cover the area should be removed as these get strewn on the road and they pose a grave danger to motor-cyclists.

I hope the authority in charge can take remedial actions soon.
