Extra Value Meals priced to offer greater savings
I WOULD like to clarify the matter raised in Mr Justin Zhuang
Yukang's letter, 'Same fries and drink but different combo prices'
(ST, Nov 11).
At McDonald's, we believe in giving our customers quality, tasty
food at great value and convenience.
Our Extra Value Meals - which comprise a sandwich, medium French
fries and a regular Coke - have been available for many years to
provide our customers with ease of ordering and, most of all,
greater value and, hence, savings (versus buying the three menu
items separately).
For instance, a Big Mac Extra Value Meal (includes medium French
fries at $1.95 ala carte and regular Coke at $1.70 ala carte) costs
$5.90, versus the usual price of $7.25 if bought separately. This
translates into a savings of $1.35, or almost 20 per cent.
Although the pricing strategy of our Extra Value Meals may differ
according to choice of sandwich, the intent to offer greater value
and savings remains.
We would like to assure Mr Zhuang and all readers that McDonald's
is continually looking to offer even greater value to our
customers.
