Why is electricity prices affected by higher oil prices so much
when gas (from Indonesia thru SembCorp) is primarily used to
generate electricity? Why would anyone in the right mind continue
to use expensive scarce oil to generate electricity when there's
abundant cheaper gas around?
Even if oil is used, who is supplying oil to SP Power? SPC -
another GLC?
Is SP Power saying when oil prices rise, they switch out of cheap
gas to expensive oil? Of course not. More plausible is they could
actually be using cheap gas to generate power but use higher oil
prices to justify raising electricity prices!
And when oil prices fall in a big way, will electricity prices fall
in tandem also or will they cook up another price-raising
factor?
I smell a rip-off. Can CASE investigate?
