I encountered the same problem when cracking SpyDoc. You could try SpyBot S&D, its totally free and you dun need to break the law to use it.

You can also try webroot spysweeper, their cd keys work like a charm and you can set the expiry to any date you like. I set mine to 10 years.

Yup, it has quite an impressive checkpoint protection but the scanning leaves much to be desired. I'm guessing that's because i used the beta version. Anyway, if you like MS one, you'll love the counterspy. The interface and realtime protection is almost the same. I see no real difference between the 2 actually, other users beg to differ.

You'd be surprised, self replicating worms can and will migrate to all other partitions given enough time. Boot up virii has a nasty habit of trying to write onto all available drives.

As for spyware, some do "migrate" so don't, there isn't exactly a fixed pattern. What they DO have in common is that they are very good at hiding... If you are doing manual removal, you'll need to do it a few times...

Task manager only kills "this instance" of it. Try killing it from the registry... It might work.
