DriftingGuy SG Actually if given a choice I rather learn how to earn money through business than as a salaried worker.. poly jc or uni.. in the end still work for someone
sinicker SG alright. what the government has done is to take into account where the majority of students frm a type of education institution proceed to upon graduation. therefore, JC Uni route accounts for 70% of all graduates. poly Uni route accounts for 20%? is this true? i got this frm an earlier reply frm a forumnite. with my point made abt the "how near you are to joining the workforce.", which was made at ard 9+pm. heh, lazy 2 quote. that point was finalised by my classmates when we were chatting. okay, i honestly am lazy to type. i dont wanna state my points liao. wanna sleep.
stellazio SG What has the "how near you are to joining the workforce" gotta do with bus fares?Cause instead of putting it that way,why don't you say who gets the higher salary ultimately??
sinicker SG a higher starting salary, i believe so. but higher salary thruout ur working life, not definite.
stellazio SG Lets just say you guys starts up higher and more chances to get propmoted depending on the boss..Most say its due to performance, but there's only a certain limit on where the diploma holder can get promoted too..Its quite a well known fact that directorial positions are mostly degree holders..So your argument is faulted..
sinicker SG ouh okay.. i just feel that the working world is one that is very unpredictable... currently, with more emphasis on poly and ITEs, it wouldnt be odd if JCs today become obsolete in the future... -shrugs-
girlyger SG but there are more and more pple who wants to go to poly instead of jc. as for me i think poly have a better future for me. if fail a levels means i or anyone who will be stuck and cant get into a university. and taking a private degree is even worst. i had a choice to go jc. but i chose poly becos it gives me better prospect and future.. so why must we greed for the cheap bus fair though its unfair for us to pay for such expensive bus fares just to go to school and learn?
DriftingGuy SG actually JCs will become obsolete in the near future what.. there are so many ways to go uni nowadays
stellazio SG No, but i was born with a good sense of arguing..I made my sec school debaters shutup many times..
girlyger SG and i think the worst is. within the 3 years. poly life is like a breeze. how much can we study? all is touch and go. a couple of mths to study and abt 2mths of holiday. how much do we learn?
DriftingGuy SG In singapore you don't go to school to learn.. You go to school so that you can contribute economically to the country in whatever way possible.. which is what the government wants... oops
girlyger SG so in all. wads the point of studying? there is a reason behind everything. no matter how much we say or have any action or petition how much can we do? the decision doesnt lies with us. its just that we want fairness. if im right to say, i dun think many jc student take part time job. mostly are poly students who are looking for it. and no matter how much we debate, there is no conclusion caused this topic is drifting here n there all along. so it makes no difference although the topic is carried out again.
DriftingGuy SG Actually, studying by right should be about gaining knowledge, skills and more importantly learning how to be a functional member of society... Somewhere along the line the 3rd point becomes so much more important than point 1 and 2. This is my humble opinion anyway but I feel that out education system no longer leaves much room for our personal growth .. but more on how we can make singapore richer.. That is why we see so much bullshyt in the education system nowadays.. As for why JC students and Poly students pay diff amt of bus/mrt fares.. please read my earlier post on which one is tertiary education, which one is not..
