kops21 SG putting on weight occassionally is okay. doing it long term will have impact on ur knee and joints, which is not good.
Gwy85 SG O.. ic ic.. Okie.. so occassionally = ? For example i am running 4 times a week.. so i put on weight 2 times a week?
kops21 SG u watching too much kung fu show already... putting on weight is like bo bian...since going to take part in certain events, eg adventure races(carry 10-20kg) or no water in the area of runs(carry water bag)...not purposely train with weights for no objective. How do you run? Straight run for 4km? jog slowly? chiong and pray for the finishing line come fast enough? There are quite a few discussions inside this thread on the type of training. If you practise those, you wont even think about weights anymore.
Gwy85 SG For my case is jog non-stop for 4 km.. i will go read up e past thread tonight.. becos putting on weight is nt fun..
OrneryBoy SG I do run about 30-40min per session covering 4-5km, 2/3 times a week.. just to keep myself ready for ippt & overall health anyway to improve?
SGpork SG seldom jog at night..now used to .. job in park..12pm ~ 2 am. kinda scary..but fun.. with those slopes...infront...u wont know whats ahead of u.. n of cos.. lamp are off..no light..complete dark
the Bear SG okay.. anyway, you guys run, please do the necessary and figure out how to take care of yourselves... my neighbour who ran all his life, now is messed up because his knees are all worn out... do take the necessary precautions and run moderately yah?
kops21 SG the purpose of putting on weight is to improve ur stamina and strength. There are other methods which can improve on your running without putting on weight.
kops21 SG cool...doing 2-3 times per week, you should be pretty fit... there are methods of improving your running being discuss on this thread, do go through them.
OrneryBoy SG oh thanks, partly to reduce my extra slab i only started to jog coz i failed my ippt, went thru RT during beginning of the year. so I said this year I must do something to avoid failing again
OrneryBoy SG i wonder whether am i at this stage already... The Aerobic Zone - 70% to 80% after a 30-40min jog, my heartbeat recovery (after panting ) is shorter liao!
kops21 SG if you are serious about jogging, invest in a heart rate monitor device. cheapest is around $100++. this will come in very handy.
kops21 SG it comes with a watch, plus a strap on(at the chest) by default. Some can download the information to the desktop, and with GPS capability.
