hi bro, i have same prob. i got this tip from my frenz. when u stop and changed to 1st gear. slowly release the clutch until u see the front hood vibrating....

I already attended abt 12 lessons, but still very weak on the half clutch when moving off esp on uneven roads ( keep stalling on the engine ). My instructor also sweat when I stalled the engine on the turning lane at the junction. Any advice on this?? Crying or Very sad

If it helps, try driving barefoot at first or use shoes with very thin soles. This allows yr feet to have a more direct tactile sensation with the clutch. And you can sense the biting point of the clutch far more easily.

You should try driving on the same car, if possible. Different cars have different points of engagements.

Apply a bit more gas (hold it at abt 2000rpm) when releasing the clutch.

starting off? release it slow, and once it starts moving, don't 'throw' your clutch if you experience any bumps, just keep it there.

once you feel the car has stabilised, then you release the clutch and proceed as normal

Accelerate a bit more.. When you feel your car has some power.. release your clutch a little by little till you see your trip meter drop a little.. that will be your biting point. Don let it drop too much.. just when it drop, the car will be perfect.

eh i tell u, if u scared engine stall, just step the accelerator more before u start releasing the clutch. The car not yours so can just whack first next time u get your own car then slowly release clutch Laughing

maybe u can try like...release clutch 1/4(instead of 1/2) first then step the gas pedal ard 1/4 n slowly release the clutch...this way ur car won't stall loh...or try to rev hard then release the clutch(but i believe ur inst won't allow on tis...heee) Laughing

how abt u leeet go of ur clutch like say ard 1/4-1/2. pump abit of accel. rev it up abit. when u feel the car wan to move rite, release ur handbrake, maintain the accel!. most impt is dun let go of ur accel or else sure dead car 1. jus co-ordinate well. i tink u need mroe lessons ba. dun be shy or scared. rather than do it badly in ur practices n train up then let it screw up on ur TP day

heh ... i think u should like accel first then SSSSSSSLLLLLLOOOOWWWWLLLLLYYYY release ur clutch ... dun look in to ur rear view mirror or bother about the cars behind u ... u will develop more concentration and u will not stall anymore! trust me ... Wink

Hi All,

Today i try to accelerate more ( abt 1.5 r/m ) during my lesson, since to be working fine, no engine stall. BUTTTTTTT still unsuccessful on uneven roads. I tried to apply the handbrake when stopping on uneven road at a junction. Once it was ready for me to move off, before releasing the handbrake, i accelerate to 1.5 r/m, hence release the clutch slowly until the vehicle start to move forward, lastly then released to handbrake. Oops, i lost control of the clutch ( guess my left leg shaky ),again it stalls. Need my
instructor to help me to release the handbrake while i'm moving off Crying or Very sad

Concentrate on your clutch pressure instead of releasing the handbrake. I remembered that my instructor asking me do all the individual things (change gear, release handbrake, step and release clutch - engine is off by the way) each for ten mins so that I get so used to them that I can do without thinking. Then do two things together (e.g. change gear and step clutch), then three and so on. Took almost one lesson, but I think it helps. I know it is hard to coordinate to do all the thing at first, but you will get it somehow. That's when you will start to enjoy driving... Surprised

To gauge your clutch-releasing skills, ask your instructor let you practice till you can move the car just by releasing clucth and not accelerating at all. Try on flat road, then gentle upslope or uneven road.

You seem to be lacking confidence. When the car starts to move off, don't panic and let go of the clutch in a jerk. You just hold the clutch at biting point until you can see the car "surging" forward a little and release the handbrake, conciously making sure your leg positions don't move. Pay attention to the clutch and accelerator, not the handbrake. Practise somemore and you should get the trick Wink Good luck.

P.S. Don't get discouraged. Lots of people still stall the car while moving off even after they have gotten their licence. Just keep trying yah? Wink

Dun worry... Is only the beginnin...

I have been thru worst! Hehee... Me also... Once is when i at a road junction, and is a slope... I cannot manage to start the car to bitin pt... Total i stalled 3 times, n the Q behind me was lik super long!

I became super stress lol...

In the beginnin so lik tat de lah... I so till very long then finally can become zai... Tis kinda of clutch control thingy... All u need is practise... Don give urself too much pressure...

Have confi in urself!!! Soon, u will be able to grasp the bitin pt at the tip of ur finger... N u be lik, hmm... Was so diff in the past?

Mayb is coz u stress up tat, hmm... u mus get the bitin pt at a fast pace, u afraid tat the cars behind waitin a long time for u etc. The more u stress, the more worst it will become!

Me last thing think tat way... Then my inst ways assure me, don bother bout the cars behind. People horn at u so nev mind, don bother. U L plate, u big! They want they can very well over tak from behind lor...

U jus slowly slowly release the clutch... And step on acc... I dunno 4 u, but i ways estimate... I don bother at all to look at the rpm... Once the car surge forward, u release the hand brake n step on acc... Sure no prob de...

The car surge forward, means tat the bitin pt is already reach...If i not wrong... So is safe to release handbrake... Then u step further on the acc while releasin, confirm safer lor... Wink
