SMRT Service 829: Sembawang Int to Yio Chu Kang MRT (loop)

This was suggested a while ago on 852, but with the Yishun temporary bus interchange opening, there may be some overcrowding problems, so I decided to use "859" instead, but renumbering the extended service as 829 while 859B/859A becomes full time Sembawang feeder. (Lost links at Yishun Ave 5 are still provided by 856.) Crowds will be dispersed between Yishun and Khatib, reducing the need and waiting time of emptying the bus for new loads like 169.

And perhaps it's time to extend 85 to Sembawang? Its loading isn't as heavy as 39 and 969, and Sembawang residents can benefit from an SLE service too. Altogether this will free two bus slots from the overcrowded Yishun Int.

P.S. The editor on mobile really sucks.

Redhill close side is en-bloc flats if i'm not wrong, they still can walk to the main road to take 197,196,147,961 to Outram.

Yes it has excellent frequency during peak/off peak..but I observed that at certain point(perhaps after PM peak) or Weekends, the frequency can be poor.

pax down the route from Orchard esp Scotts Rd & Stevens Rd still cant board due to overcrowding. prob could be due to bus bunching. So no point for all trips to start from NBR. its good to reschedule alternative trips to loop at say Dhoby Ghaut and call this 190M.

I think the load issue is also from AMK side. I ever took 169, the bus already pack.. Maybe becoz its a rigid bus... Hmmm... Can you try and improve on the AMK side?

That one really boh pian. The route I suggested is because I once waited more than 30mins for a single 169 at Yishun, and the bus was full. Ended up taking other svces and transfer.

AMK first few stops should be okay, because the opposite frequency is reasonable. There's a need for full day Bendy buses in order to cater to the demand.

Took a downroute bus ytd[Start from the stop b4 Yishun Stn], and the bus was already full when it picked up passengers at Yishun Stn.

Hi mr SBS3688Y, depending on exact destination, people can always hop on to smrt 972 and transfer to other buses. No need for sbs190M. We cannot pamper to each and every one needs. Cheers.

Not anymore. This was situation few months back. After 972 getting major fleet upgrade, 190 getting many DDs, things have changed. You do see the buses still full, but instances of ppl not being able to board has reduced to a great extent. If at all, if cannot board in first bus, can def in 2nd bus.

169 situation still not great. Packed buses in PM from Seneko/Woodlands industrial estate to WRI. Also observed packed buses from Seneko in opposite direction to Yishun. Similarly, loads continue to be pretty heavy between AMK and Springleaf, and Yishun ave 3 to Yishun MRT.

The service still has many pockets where the loading gets terribly high not easily manageable by rigids.
