One more thing to add, plug doors are way out...
UK, HK new buses have the "push out, sliding doors"
Well, i wouldnt exactly say its way out, but it could be a
hazard because of the relative lower quality build of the plug
doors by smc transit. Compare the plug doors on habits and those on
any k230, i believe just by the look of it u will know which is
stronger when someone accidentally got pushed to the door or falls
down and lean onto the door.
The safety issue here is because of the thin metal poles holding
the door, the door could just give way and the person fall out of
the bus! Remember the incident few years back where a vso door plug
door broke off and was left dangling. Push out, sliding doors would
not have this issue because there is a limit the door will go when
someone knocks into it.
Also, push out, sliding doors would give a wider exit by
reduction of the support poles needed near the btm of the door.
Do look at http://www.doorsystemsgroup.com/ for more info,
they provide most if not all of the doors to kmb, nwfb and sbs's
vo2/3x and mk4s.
