14 is there for historical reasons. I believe 175 is there is
because at that time of BC recruitment there are more based in arbp
than bbdep. The introduction of 5 175 has led to 96 moving from
arbp to bbdep.
Jurong East used to be fully under bbdep. When slbp opened,
majority of the services went over to slbp less 506.
160 under bbdep is to consolidate all the JB Mk3s in 1 depot
together, since 170 is also under bbdep and 160 from bbdep to
Jurong East isnt that far..
198 under bbdep is due to off service mileage. This reason dates
way back to a million years ago. Has no effect on current day's
deployment reasoning.
slbp still has space.. but not logical for them to do so..
imagine 198 full slbp.. possible since 174 is also under full slbp
but since its not broken, why fix it?
1. easier for single depot control
2. arbp has no space in like of taking in 1 bus from BN 65, fleet
addition for 65 111 272
3. brbp still have space to park. Just go to brbp at 2.30am.
Its 2004. It takes 20-22min brbp-> eunos. about 15-19min from
eunos -> brbp
Addition of 1 outside schedule bus
However, I can see some of AR permers like 32, 65, 111, 175 etc
parking departing from BBDEP instead of ARBP since it's
interchangable (beside the purpose of maintenance) to commence
their S Split duty. Because of that, 99, 198 etc... got 65,
111, 132 perm cameos.
Is it something to do with the bus timings?
